Looking for more out of my 09 xtx. Trying to keep up w some good running 800s and I think a turbo is gonna be the only way I can do it here at 2500 ft and why wouldn't I wanna to spank them at 10000ft. Sled has 2in challenger and antiratchet drivers. I don't want to open the motor so that limits it to basicaly 2 180hp kits ulmers and mcxpress. I've heard excellent reports from both. I'm leaning toward ulmer cause he is with in 200 miles and service sells. I'm interested in opinions. Also what else should I do to make it more mountain worthy. I have a complete timbersled suspension system installled be stock otherwise. Thanks for the input[/list]

I would go for MCX 180 Hp Turbo kitt
Becouse you have 180hp in100 feet and 3000 feet and you dont have to begin to remap in 1000 or 3000 feet
No remaping

You can't go wrong either way, both are very good.
Are you going to do install your self or let anyone do it for you?
The low boost systems are in general very easy to install, and especially an MCX kit you can do your self following the manual, and if you have any q there's always people ready to help.
I suspect there are some companies doing MCX installations not far from you, have you looked @ MCXpressusa's website?
Good luck with your turbo purchase, you are going to spank those 800's, eeeeasy!

thanks for the replies. two main differences in the 2 systems are turbo location. spooling should be quicker with ulmers location (in theory). also with his location an under tunnel exhaust should work right? id like to have some space on top for some gas and such. i will do the install cause i like knowing how things work and it makes it easer to diagnos and repair if i have trouble later. keep the opinions coming! anyone with much experience on either system.

This is always a huge pursuader for me... I have Full Power Performance FPP within riding distance from me, very convenient when uptime matters the most.
Having said that and not to steer you away from MCX or Ulmers, but another option worth looking at if your looking for a true bolt-on kit is the FPP 180HP pump gas stage1 for the Nytro that they are producing now. It's a rear mount using the stock exhaust manifold and header. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=87839&start=0
Upgradable to a point before having to get into the motor to decompress to keep using pump gas.

Go with a front or mid mount.
Way better holeshot & throttle response.

Give me a call and I can try to help answer any questions you may have about our system.
Our kit is a true bolt on (there two positions which require die grinding, but otherwise no holes in the chassis, etc). It can also be updated very easily down the road as our Stage 1 kit uses the exact same intercooler as the Stage 2, etc. Simply swap the turbo, change the fuel pump, and reset the PCIII and you are done upgrading.
Please call or email if you have any other questions. 605-387-2833 or srxspec@gwtc.net

I know states may be big, but being somewhat clsoe to a company is ALWAYS nice to if you need to bring it in or get some tech help, with that being said, for lower boost levels, I really like the ulmer setup with the cast header, etc... its the only way to go unless maybe an impulse thick tube header, but thats a whole different ball game for power. The stock exhaust being used for a rear mount works well, but it can be a real pain if it starts cracking etc with it being thin material, also, the short cast header is gonna come out of the whole a LOT harder then a rearmount hands down.

It will come out a lot harder, than rear mount for sure, no doubt!
But correct length header, properly done mating make both more power and even better throttle response. but there is no kit I ever saw come with such a correctly made header, powederlites is real close to altough.

I have been the turbo game since early 04, since you live so close to Ulmer, thats what I would go with. Dealing with somebody in another country is a pain in the you know what. You will be able to drive right to him, @ least Allen is on here, supports this site that we all come to get info from, etc. I dont have his kit. As its an old turbo RX1 with parts from all over the world! Sled from Japan, intercooler from Sweden, header from Utah, tank from Quebec, seat from Utah, tunnel from British Columbia, Hood from B.C., like I said all over the place. Good luck with your pic, also there is nothing wrong with MCX either.

I am surprised that no one with an actual 180 system chimmed in yet,,,,
I don't own one either, i only go by hearsay from alot of owners and a couple of short testruns myself, but from hearsay i come to the conclusion that an MCX180 is hard to beat, even from the holeshot, it might be their IIC that removes the Nytro bog that is the key, i hope that actual owners chim in.
Also written is that it's a pain in the ... to deal with somebody in another country, i didn't know MCXpress USA was in another country??
I'm sure there's MCX dealers close to you.
Good luck with you're choise, you can't go wrong either way, there's no bad system out there, but not everyone is best for you, the key is to find right one for you're driving, think about what you want from YOU'RE sled, listen to actual owners, talk do dealers/installers, then make you're pick.

thanks for the opinions guys. i knew id get some valid points.
i should have mentioned what all i do w the sled. we do mainly ditch pounding (no trail riding) and burn across fields. we try to make atleast 3 trips to the big horns and then hit the black hills on the way home.
i think its time to give ulmer a call. hes close by and like RED said, chasing parts isnt any fun. its nice to see that ulmer chimed in here too. no ones said anything negative about him here (i searched him) they always say his customer service is great. once i get the wheat all cut ill make the call.
anyone with any ride experience on the 180s?
