Went out with my dealer last weekend and ran the Junk Yard Dog (My sled home made Turbo kit) against their modded out one with a MC-Xpress front mount and a stock RX-1 they just put the MC-Xpress rear mount on. Bottom line mine was the 3rd best sled that day on those hills against all the power saw motors and these 2 other Turboed RX-1s. The front mount modded one was the fastest up the hills but for the dollars spent on that one the rear mount MC-Xpress kit in the stock chassis was by far the most impressive. Damn I can't stop thinking I should bite the bullet and buy a 2005 and the rear mount Turbo. On a long steep pull on a hill the rear mount pulled mine by 2-3 sled lengths and the front mount pulled that one by another 3 sled lengths. That rear Turbo seemed very smooth, excellent throttle response and it truly ran flawless. (Better then a stock RX-1) In my own defense this was my 1st ride with my new pistons and I was running 11lbs boost and my jetting and clutching was off a little but it will never be as refined as the rear mount from MC-Xpress. For an idea of how the RX-1 Turbos were doing against Power Saw motors it was Severe KILLAGE! I really should be happy with what I have but that rear mount is frigg'n sweet............... The 2 strokes mostly Doos and Poos had to do the leap frog thing from each others track to make a trail to go over the BIG hills and we could run up the trail 1/4 to 1/3 of the way pull out in the powder and blow over the top. One poor bugger ran up one of our trails on a piped 800 RMK and fell short of the top by 30' and had no momentom so when he turned he high sided and flipped it to the bottom. The bright side was that he lightened it up another 50lbs as the parts were scattering all over the hill. Most hills we went to, as soon as we started hitting them and blowing over the guys that were climbing just stopped and watched. I guess its too depressing scatching your way up a hill when 1 tons are getting air at the top?

RX4Fun, I read Snow West and Am Snow but no matter what you write on those sites it ussually becomes a pi$$ing match. Nobody has seen a RX-1 match a 800 let alone beat or KILL one. When I get tuned by any other sled my hats off to the guy that did the tunning because my stuff ussaully runs pretty well so I call a spade a spade but most sledders out there have the fastest best sled out there. When I get whopped I just go back to the drawing board and see if I can make it better next time. Problem here is I think that rear mount MC is just TOO DAMN GOOD to compare to. You are one lucky cowboy to already have one. I think with that thing and a Doo 159x16" the Sky the limit. If you don't mind telling me what Jets and clutching are you running I would be interested. The MC rear mount here has 20-40 gearing, 130 mains, needles dropped one, fuel screws stock, 8bu-00 with 2-4.5 gram pins in each weight, the long P/P/P spring, 45-36 helix, stock secondary spring wraped @ 80 degrees. He was running a diffrent combination of clutching when we went up the mountain and it worked pretty well but this is what I run so we swaped his out to what I have and thats when we dropped the needles and man did it perk up. He was on 10lbs boost, mine was 11lbs and the other guy with the front MC set up had what looked to me 12lbs boost (His gauge is VERY hard to read, its VERY small and its mounted down by the gas tank) I rode all 3 sleds lots that day, they all pull hard but that rear mount is liquid smooth. By the way these are my dealers sleds P.G. Yamaha (250) 562-4151 and they are the Canadian distributor for MC-Xpress

Fever,
Great post. Have you had a chance to ride a Bender yet?

No, I havn't tried a Bender kit. How yours working these days? Are you able to run in all weather and snow conditions without any carburation adjustments. From what I have seen with the MC kits they just don't care how warm, cold, high or low you are. They run very consistant. In reality I will just keep working on my home made set up but I really should have bought a kit, and turned the key. Went out on Sunday with the wife, kid and one of his buddies and again almost blew it over backwards on a hill. I need to take some weight transfer out of it or just stop taking a run at the hills (Sometimes builds way too much speed). It seems to pick up so much speed that if you hit a wave on the hill while climbing the track wants to pass the hood. Scares the $hit out of you though when you think its coming over.

It is running pretty good. I am just a tad rich still on the high end, but temp and altitude don't seem to really effect it. The only issue I'm having is that I am still sucking up snow when it is really deep.
It went from winter to damned near summer here in about 3 days. Spring doesn't usually really start here for another month. There is still quite a bit of snow, but I don't like riding this hard snow. When you throw in a turbo the hard snow just doesn't hold any kind of challange. Work has been getting busy to. Unless we get some sort of storm I am likely done for the year

Hey Spray25, did you try the baffling thing at the back like the MC turbo's? It wasn't great powder that I rode my dealers in but it was enough that the snow was piling up on the dove tail and back of the running boards and his never missed a beat. I would however like to try it in some bottomless powder for a real test. I figure I'll get one more ride or so around here as well yesterday we hit 15c man did the snow ever drop. The mountains are still getting hit but its starting to rot. Next year I'm going to put a diffrent exhaust snail on the old girl and see if I can't perk it up a bit. Funny how too much is never enough. 5 years ago would have traded my kid straight across for a sled with this much power and now I'm trying to figure out how to sqeeze more out it.

I have not had the opportunity to see the MC rear mount in person. I would LOVE to know more about their baffle system. Any chance you can get me any pics? There would be some beer offered as a reward!!
