Turbo the RX-1 motor or put in an Apex motor and turbo it?

The mpg applies to stock apex vs rx as well. If I am nice to mine I get 18, stock apex's are in the 14s. I usually ride like a idiot so I'm around 16 long running avg, never seen a apex beat that avg.

I cann't explain why the rx-1 gets better fuel economy it just does. I have one brother with a rx-1 and he consistantly gets at least 4mpg better than my other brother with the Apex. you would think the Apex being fuel injected would get better, but it doesn't.

Difference in gearing and RPM, contributes to the difference in fuel economy. The Apex spins higher and has more HP, uses more fuel by nature. Nothing to do with carb'd vs FI...

No offense intended, but I disagree. gearing & clutching will play a factor in fuel economy, but the Rx-1 turbo's can run hard all day and get better economy than an Apex that is babied around all day! Been there done that. In fact my turbo vector would get better fuel economy than a stock Apex on any given day.

Ah! thought you were refering to stock, it is the case with naturally aspirated. With turbo's, it's more than likely due to the type of controller & programming because FI is then not as linear as the carbs, the fuel is stepped??? How does that sound? Either that or you left the parking brake on the Apex... ;)!
