Turbo the RX-1 motor or put in an Apex motor and turbo it?

I have already done all the mods to make my RX handle good..I only need a new front suspension... Think I'm going to put the Barkbuster on it....

I'm not sure what to do about motor..I REALLY liked my Apex Mnt with the turbo, but the RX one's were to slow....Might have to do the RX engine just to prove to people they can be fast

Then we're two on the same mission, besides I have done that for a few years already hahah LOL, the ole lady can be fast if treated right.

But still easy to flood it tilted too much / flipped over......

And that is a problem.

My old rx1 motor pulled like mofo!!! I don't think apex motor will outpull it, but at least its efi.

Yeah it's a pain to get it started after a roll, gotta find a way to cut power to the fuel pump when the engine stalls, should help on the flooding issue.

My pump did stop as the engine stopped... but still flooded like hell! bowls emptied into engine....

Almost each times got to crank a #*$&@ load of time to get it start... then 5 minutes of not being able to get on gas because need time to clear everything.... sometime this was pissing me off.... could not get out of some places because of that.

Uh that's a pain, luckily I have only rolled my RX once in the deep, last season that was. OK then - only solution is to keep her rubber side down.

well, we all know we're nor able to keep the rubber side down...

Luckily we don't have to many bowls over here to get out of, and usually we stand in one place and everybody is laughing theor A$$of after someone rolls over, but I see the problem... This is starting to get frustrating...If I can't find anybody with time on their hands to build the motor completely up for me, I might have to get an Apex motor and turbo it...

Ouch... I roll min several times per day!

If I don't flip her over at least one time, Ive not tried hard enough ;)

Just got a call from a guy with time on his hands...guess I'll put in the RX motor...just need to decide if I want to throw in rods and pistons while I have it apart....

one thing to consider is fuel economy, a turbo'd rx1 motor will get better fuel economy - by far!

I ran a longer wire from my fuel pump toward the front of the sled and put a connector in the middle of it. Now all I have to do is reach under the intercooler after its upside down and disconnect the fuel pump. Once the sled starts and runs a while I plug it back in. Only takes about 15 seconds of cranking no matter how long its upside down. I roll mine a few times on each ride, so this was the first thing I did to it after I drained the battery trying to start it again.

obr - that some good news for you, nice getting some help when needed :-) Did only ride the deep twice last year, so little of it around here, but very annoying when she floods.

sledfvr - good idea

Never though about that one....

I cann't explain why the rx-1 gets better fuel economy it just does. I have one brother with a rx-1 and he consistantly gets at least 4mpg better than my other brother with the Apex. you would think the Apex being fuel injected would get better, but it doesn't.
