Just getting back from a 3 day saddlebag trip and I'm so smitten with this tune I wanted to share my experiences.
Tuesday morning my Buddy and I leave Caribou headed to Ashland. He's driving a 2013 Cat 1100 turbo with a muffler(190hp) which is nothing to write home about but he takes care of his #*$&@ and the sled runs well. I have a 2017 Winder RTX SE with TD Max Pump 17, SQ muffler and TD CAI, 22T top gear.
We hit the RR Bed and I pull alongside to conduct some testing. I wanted to yank his chain a little so my plan was to stay alongside of him until he was topped out, letting him think the sleds were even in speed. From a 10mph roll I give the nod and I put my throttle lever at half throttle. I nudge ahead of him a little bit so I roll out of it a little and continue to roll in and out to stay on the side of him. Bear in mind temps are about 30F, but rr bed is relatively smooth. At about 101-102 mph I see him duck behind the windshield in an effort to squeeze every last mile an hour out of it. I start to chuckle in my helmet because I'm not quite half throttle. I slide back on the seat a little and put the flipper to the bar. My sled squats, the front skis come off the snow about 10 inches and I leave him like he's tied to a pole. I hold it a few seconds as there is a road coming up, but before letting off, I look down and see 127mph on the speedo. I cross the road and proceed to continue at a leisurely pace when my Buddy passes me right on the pipe. I grab it again and within a few seconds reel him in and pass him like he has the brakes on. I hold it approximately 7-8 seconds and before letting go look down and see 132mph speedo. Keep in mind I'm not trying to break records here. I'm sitting upright in a comfortable riding position, I have a huge grandpa windshield with mirrors, saddlebags on the back, tank bag etc. At any rate, this thing is the real deal and it absolutely rips.
We gas in Ashland and while I'm in the store paying, my Buddy asks me how much I put. (He's anal about gas mileage and constantly monitors this. I on the other hand could not care less...I ride to enjoy myself, wheelies, jumps etc.) At any rate, I tell him $7.90. He says that can't be......that's less than me. I said, "Yeah that winder is pretty good on gas." We go outside and he walks around to my pump....2.7 gallons while his pump read 3.6. He says, "Oh, I did worse because I was pushing it on the rr bed." "I'm going to take it easy and when we gas in Shin Pond I'll beat you."
I say, "Good Luck with that!!"
From Ashland to Shin Pond, I'm leading at a brisk pace, but I never hold it wide open. The long stretches I hold it steady at 90mph, but never faster. There were plenty of wooded sections where I was 60-65mph. We get to Shin Pond and I have 66 miles on my trip meter. I fill up putting 3.6 gallons and park my sled on the other side of the parking lot.
My Buddy joins me after filling his Cat and asks, How much did you put?
I say, 3.6 gallons how about you?"
He says, 4.5.....how can you take less than me.... that f...ckin thing is boosted? You can't be full!" Did you burp it?"
I said, "Yeah!"
He says, "There's no f...kin way you are full."
He walks over to my sled and removes the gas cap......it's full to the cap. I pull out my phone and do the division: 66/3.6 = 18.33 mpg.
My Buddy says, "132mph......18mpg......that sled is unreal!!!!"

You should be smiling, all that power, great mileage and those trails in your area are unbelievable.
I have heard from my dealer that some are getting upwards of 17 mpg with his 270 TD tune kits.
Your TD max pump is what, 280?
Ha, my 245 kit may get close to your snow speeds but it has to be bare ice. Amazing speeds on a snow covered trail. Next year maybe a 270 tune for me.
Life is good Fleecer, enjoy!

Love f****** with buddies. That's the best feeling. Haha.
I gravitate to a motor that can produce power efficiently. Burning fuel is easy, anyone can. Lol
Great story, congratulations......

Great story. Raced many other stock sleds this year and could beat them pretty easily stock. I told everyone I was going to clutch it next year to try to get a little more out of it. I didn’t say tune also! Lol . This sled will be the ultimate sleeper with a max 16 SM tune and my grandpa windshield. Can’t wait to make heads spin next year!

Yes saddlebags and mirrors also. I am 55 years old and will be hunting young hot rodders on the lake with their 800 and 850’s next year. Could beat them easily this year but would like to totally destroy them like they were fan cooled. All the sleeper hardware will add to the story very nicely. Open the hood stock muffler so no mods there only a clutch kit. LolDon't forget saddle bags......going 130 with a tall windshield & saddlebags. Hahaha.....awesome.

Buddy and I bought jet skis, couple weeks apart. Same same. Ran across the lake. He edged me......once.
Next time we got together, he was down on power, big time. Never figured out what happened?

OK my question, ashland has no 93 octane, but just 91,did you add octane fuel additive? How long have you held it WO for,wow 132 is a lot,and even that speed must have taken you further than 1000 feet ben claimes you should hold it to bars for. I am interested in that tune, and it will be my one and only tune flashed in,so I need to know if you feel it is safe and user friendly trail tune,ya I want to open it up on RR beds and lakes some to,but don't need to blow motor up. PM me if you want,i would like to speak to you if possible, woody,s can load it in for me,but my thought is to at least change the BOV,and maybe 3 bar sensor. Thanks peteJust getting back from a 3 day saddlebag trip and I'm so smitten with this tune I wanted to share my experiences.

Great questions Pete,
I only run Max 17 all the time with no knock light. If I change tune....... it will be to Max 20, nothing less. Quick Spool Max 17 or higher, the 3 bar map sensor is required, regular Max 17 can run with stock map and bov. I've done it. I currently have a turbo smart bov, but noticed no difference from stock bov. Some say stock bov leaks, but mine would hold 21lbs.
Trail riding I add torco or lucas and follow the mixing recommendations on the bottle. On this trip, I left home at 97 octane, fueled in Ashland with 91 and added nothing as I was high enough. Got to Shin Pond and fueled with 91 again, but trails heading south pretty tight with no big stretches...so never added anything. Gased again in Millinocket at NEOC (Some call it Twin Pines) and noticed they had outside above ground tank, so put half bottle Lucas. Went to Chesuncook Lakehouse, Libby Camps who both have above ground tanks....don't really trust these tanks and knew i'd be breaking trail on river to Masardis....so put 8Oz Torco there too.
When rr bed is hard and flat, and already rolling 100mph, seems like I only have to hold it for seconds and it's in the 130s!! With good fuel (95/96 octane) I've held this over 1 mile wot many, many times, back to back to back without issue. If this is wrong, someone please enlighten me.
I don't advertise for TD, never met the owner, nor could I spot the owner in a crowd of two, but I will say this. The guy knows his s#!t and his tunes rock.
When I ran a cat turbo there were two companies who made tunes: Turbo Dynamics and everyone else. Mine had a tune from another vender. It did not make the power nor was the runnability as good as my Buddies running TD. I did not make that mistake twice!!!
Hope this helps!!

Great story, love hearing these. In my area there are plenty of guys running new Pol 800's and some 850's. This winter I ran PT with SQ. Often times these guys throw out little jabs like 'your sled is too heavy', or whatever else lame excuse they can come up with. I let my sled do the talking. The trails in my area are open farmland, so there are plenty of straightaways. Every once in while when I am following one of them, we come out of a bush onto a straightaway. I know that they are running full throttle, and by the time I come out of the bush they have 8-10 sled lengths on me. I pull the trigger and blow by them. Its like comparing a 500 to an 800. Days later I over hear the Pol guys talking "Rob didn't go by me with 2 mph more, more like 10 plus"Just getting back from a 3 day saddlebag trip and I'm so smitten with this tune I wanted to share my experiences.

On another note I ran into a fellow at the Abitibi Canyon last week running PT. He also had a boost guage on the sled. He told me his stock BOV would only hold about 14.6, so he installed the TS valve.Great story, love hearing these. In my area there are plenty of guys running new Pol 800's and some 850's.
