this is my story, last year i bought the mcxepress rear mnt from pickering motorsports ont.(great guys) installed it myself(nice kit) put some wheels on it and ripped up the cul-desac at work,it was very loud (pretty cool though)and the stock clutching was completly overwelmed. but i tell you it hauled some serious butt. i talked to the owner of heel clickers who set me up with the new style 2 speed weights and springs for the turbo(also great guys)and waited for snow. it came to sprucedale mid dec ,went to cottage for the first run ....blew the intercooler off, you really need to crank on those clamps, tried again ....oh mamma! this thing is nuts ,i mean i own some seriously fast stuff but this is in a new league, only one problem it sounds like a drag bike...not cool and the filter gets clogged with snow and chokes it.back to the shop, cut up a stock cbr 900 rr exhaust canister ,a little machining , some welding, some polishing and presto! a silencer and an external intake, looks like 2 cannons ,i love it ,wait for more snow , it comes, i go again ,second try is 200% better ,it's quiet ,stupid fast and you can really hear the turbo ,it sounds like a jet taking off when you hammer it (oh yeah and there is zero turbo lag ,i mean zip), the gas mileage is still great ,and it will do 200kph down the big lakes in muskoka without breathing hard and it eats new mach z's for a snack. to date i have 3000 trouble free kms on the set up,except when its warm ,if shut it down , leave it for 5 minutes and restart,i have to hold the throttle wide open for like 5 seconds before it catches, any ideas out there?otherwise this is the most fun you can have with your pants on! ;)!

Venturemax,

Go down to your nearest Doo shop and pickup a coolant shutoff
valve for a 2003 summit and it will solve your problem. You can
regulate how much if any coolant passes through the carbs. ;)!

Trust me it works.... I'll see if i can find a pic.

Here's a pic and this is a Yamaha shut off. The other two as you can see are the fuel shut offs.

Hello venturemax, I recall meeting you on the trail a few weeks ago. I was one of the two Dans you stopped on the side of the trail to talk to. Thats quite the beast you have going there! Your little sound demonstration when taking off left me dreaming of turbos EVERY night!! I thought your track was going to burn off.
BTW, the other Dan’s RX-1 has well over 22,000 kms so far and counting. We’re out every weekend and hopefully meet up with you again..

The one used on the Mtn sleds is $59 CAD, part# 8FW1249A0000. Don't know what the other ones are worth.

Better yet go to a Honda lawnmower retail outlet, and get a fuel shutoff valve. $10.00 gets you a coolant shutoff valve for your Yamaha. That is in Canadian dollars. Works great!

The coolent shutoff switch is only good for the warm weather, +1 or warmer. To solve that problem you have to make a heat shield to install under the carb float bowls, up between the carbs and the engine with some insulation and deflection. Then its good for all weather conditions. The yami Grizzly ATV had the same problem. Fuel would boil in the float bowl when it ran hot, or got steamed from water crossings, and the motor would sputter. ;)!

thanks to you all for the tips ,i think that i will try the valve(because thats easy) if that dosen't work i will try the heat shield for the carbs, thank again.
