Hey guys I've been in contact with Allen Ulmer about upgrading my trail turbo! After talking to him don't think I'M up for doing the 240 upgrade (head shim timing... .) But he did suggest doing a ecu flash, bigger injectors and pipe mod. Anyone got this done please give me your opinion !!!
He also mentioned the d&d muffler for mpi will increase 11hp!Anyone running just the muffler?
Thanks just want a good summer project for next season :)

i have the intercooler upgrade bigger injectors and race muffler i will be getting the ecu flash to help with clutching i also run the pvc pti but if i had my time back i may have just saved my money and stayed with the gemes because i have been all season setting up the power commander. pulls very good and the bigger injectors give you all the fuel you need to run 6 psi on stock motor.

I was thinking about the 240 up grade but decided I'm pretty happy with my gas milage and performance. I think I'll do the gear and chain swap this summer though and maybe dual rate springs instead.

Me too about 240 but after talking with Allen I might go with his recommendation (bigger injectors ecu flash and d&d pipe

Did you swap out your gears? And if so did you feel much difference at slower speeds?

Have seen back to back dyno runs with that can on a trail turbo (4 psi), it gained 14 hp over the mpi quiet muffler and didn't need any adjusting on fueling. I did the head shim and cam timing on mine and if I were to do it all over again I'd do the same exact thing. Myself Personally I wouldn't want to be trying to make extra power by pulling timing to run more boost. If I was doing anything beyond 6 psi on a stock engine, bare minimum I'd put head studs in it. The extra work of the headshim makes it worth the peace of mind knowing that you're safe at 12 psi on pump fuel compared to on the edge at 8 psi. 12 psi with that 2.5" d&d exhaust will get you 250 horse.

Anyone know the HP gain from the mpi suitcase muffler to the mpi race can?

Hp gains all depend on boost, the more boost the bigger the gain. At 8 psi on mine the hp numbers with different exhausts were as follows:
Mpi quiet muffler-184 hp
Mpi race can-202 hp
D&D can-211 hp

No boost or fuel changes and very rich afr numbers (9.8-10.2) in warm spring air on a decompressed engine. At 10 psi mine finished at 230 hp at 10.2 afr..have leaned it out since in the 10.8-11.2 range.

I haven't even installed my mpi 190 turbo yet, I have the loud race can and putting the intake through the hood, so I have a little of an advantage over the suitcase muffler and underhood intake, I keep hearing that the quiet can only make's 170is HP, at 4.5 psi, I'll run the way I got it for next winter, but probably will be upgrading the fuel pump and quick spooling waste gate and going to 6 psi, hopefully be in the 200 HP range.

Fromantic what I understand the mpi race can doesn't make anymore hp then the stock.
The d&d can for trail kit make 11hp what Allen Ulmer told me

14 hp. Nice gain in torque too. Never seen any back to back pulls with the mpi race can at low boost, trouble with the mpi setup is that it's such a sharp bend off the turbo and the turbo outlet is 2.5" if I remember right where as the flange is only 2" on the mpi muffler and can, so right out of the turbo the exhaust is basically hitting a wall with the smaller flange and then a slash cut so it's very restricted even before it gets into the muffler. The 2.5" flange and piping along with a more gradual bend off the turbo is what's making those good gains
