Turk now that you have had a chance to run the HC,Daltons and HH.Please give us your likes and dislikes for each weight.Which weight do you feel works the best and most important of all which weight will be in youe sled for most of this winter. Thanks
Daltons work well for a guy who just wants a bolt in & go kit. I think if Dale placed some holes to add mass they would work better for guys that like to tune. I like the hc,s & there are many different ways to tune em. I do not like the massive primary spring & I feel a lot of the problems of clutches running really hot are due to the fact you got a really heavy weight fighting against a big #*$&@ primary spring. I liked the hh,s before but never did like the way they backshifted. I have since spent a lot more time with them & have gotten them to upshift & backshift real well. They perform very similarily to hc,s but with out that big primary spring & with a lot less clutch face heat. I have HH,s in my RX-1 & am getting more & more out of them every time I go out. They seem to work the best with a real wide spread between helix angles as do the hc,s. They are a good do anything weight, easy to tune & my clutches run cool.

Thanks Turk,I'm going to try the HC first since I have a set already.I'm guessing you can make the HC work with the stock helix okay but what helix would work better.
I had really good luck with the dalton 54/42. With hh,s & hc,s.

Turk, I see that you are running a 54/42 helix. So I take it you are shooting for hole shot & MPH and not ET and turning the over rev into MPH. Or is it the way Dalton cuts there helix and is it steeper, then what it appears. (Later)
Dalton,s helix,s are about average for a cut. This combo worked well for everything & ran hard. I am not using that particular helix anymore. I have an advant-edge roller rooster coming shortly to test. Local track dyno guy claims it works great on a RX-1 & Rick is gratiousley sending me 1 at no charge to do some testing with. I will post results when I get it installed & dialed in.
So Turk, what primary spring do you suggest to run with the HC? I too find my clutch runs hot and engagement is almost 5k with the white spring.
My primary ran hot no matter what i tried. To bring engagement down add more weight to the heel...but...this pulls your tip weight away too. Run the white hc spring & by adding more weight to heel you can get engagement pretty low but you may have to remove some heel weight. With this helix I ran heavier heel & mid with very light tip weight. It ran well with very good top end.

Hi Turk:
How sick are we?. Christmas day and we're hooked to this web site?!?!?!
Your clutching conversation sparked my writing.
I'm running HC's in my 03 shorty. I too found the white spring supplied too agressive and runs hot. I immediately went out a bought a variety of Yamaha springs to work with. Also a TEAM secondary. Here's where I'm at and the question I have.
4.5 gr in the heal, 3.8 tip, -0- middle, total weight 59.7gr. Yamaha spring GWG 35, 2.5, 128. Peg the flipper and she goes straight to 10,500 and then backs down to 10,000 starting at about 85MPH. Speedo max's to 132 @ 10,000 rpm after 1 mile. Hole shot is very strong. Ice running in perfect conditions. Takes the new ZR-900 the whole way with no effort. 8 sleds after the mile.
?? How can I keep the RPM's at 10,500???
TEAM secondary at 58-38, but has another angle 58-40. Almost all my work has been at 58-38. I'm running a new black/red secondary spring which TEAM calls for on the RX-1
I'm stuck, so any suggestions will be appreciated.
Happy Holidays.

Add 1-2 grams in the tip to bring down the inital overrev. You are mostr likely gonna have to take some weight out of the tip. You should probably remove about 1 gram. I used the heel screws from heavy hitters cus the screw right into the hc holes & loctite em in. The 3/4 weighs 3.4 grams, the 1/2"=2.4 & the 1/4"=1.4. You can really fine tune with these screws in the hc,s. I am just gonna go out & do some more fine tuning to the SRX & the RX-1. The changing conditions keeps throwing me off. Just when I think I got it nailed stuff changes & I gotta reclutch but I am close.

Otis i had the same setup last year, now hh set by spec. and have not installed my team yet,but my team is not the same spring or helix as you are running, helix is 56/36 56/34 now this combo will overrev at take off and will fall off to 10,300 depending on gearing,i used g/g/g and g/w/g w/3 shims last year w/hc as well and my spring was b/g ![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
