Two Seasons on Winder

3000 miles, blew 2 belts both had almost 1000 miles on them. Puked oil everywhere after doing the ROV mod, put it back to stock and no more problems.
Now that I think about it my 2006 Apex had waay more problems. Never blew a belt but all the bogey wheels shredded at 700 miles, destroyed the track, fuel pump
relay, exhaust doughnuts, hand warmers, driveshaft bearings, battery died. I guess the Winder ain't so bad after all.....
You must be crazy!!! The Apex was the greatest sled EVER and never had ANY problems!!!!!!!!!!
P.S.---you forgot front end bushings and hyfax......

Woodys in Topsham I am looking at setting the offset to 58 as others have had luck with cooler clutches that way.

Woody had adjusted mine last year to the end of the spec that was in the 60,s not sure exact number he had said.
I will check mine when I get a chance to see exactly where it is at currently with it’s 1100 mile tendency.
I saw no difference before or after visually: it had one shim on it before and one on it afterwards. Did not check shim thickness prior, so checking it afterwards would tell me nothing.

Hope the 58 mm offset works for you.

I did those also....sigh

I’ll take front end bushings and worn hyfax problems anytime. Won’t ruin your weekend and strand you on the trail. Neither of my Apex’s or Vector have ever had any engine or other related issues. Not slamming the winder either. My son had 2500 trouble free miles on his without any issues or blown belts.

My point here is no sled is perfect. Some here act as if the Procross sleds are junk----they are not. They are great sleds. Everyone ride what you enjoy and be done with it.

Yes this site is great for lots of info. But it does make it look like when someone has a issue it makes it look like it is a epidemic.
Like everyone is going to have the same issues.

On my 17 Winder. And I rode it like I stole it for 3500 miles the only things I ran into was blowing 2 belts and frozen fuel pump relay at -36. No big deal in my book.

We have also sold over 80 Winders the past 2 seasons and have only had 2 customers with problems that left them dead in the trail. Both 2018’s with sight glass poping out.

Not that this problem is acceptable but the percentage of problems vs units sold is.

Wish we could have the same result for the other 2 brands we sell.
This happened to my 18 XTX as well. No one I know had this happen, but obviously I wasn't the only one. I was riding alone, but luckily was almost home. Was a little cranky about having to walk. Otherwise love the sled.
Maybe a circlip behind it would help?

what was it that caused your sled to die,and you to walk,i must of missed your post, what circlip?

His sight glass fell out of his chain case cover. This has happened a lot on the 18's but not on the 17's. Maybe waiting a year for the bugs to work out was a bad idea. I think the 18's have had more issues than the 17's myself.

Sight glass fell into chaincase, causing nylon pucks on shift fork to melt from low oil. Gear started to grind, would not engage. The circlip was a suggestion, they could put it behind sightglass.

Maybe I ride harder than most and I know I am heavier than most as well at 295 Lbs, but I am on my 5th belt. They have replaced my rollers. I try and warm my belt up each trip just like I was told by the dealer and I roll into the throttle slowly to avoid snapping them. I dont slam the brakes on and hit the throttle before it gets a chance to backshift. I am still not confident in the sled like I was with my Apex and RX1

I agree that ridding style may have a Lot to do with how the sled holds up. 3000k 2 season, rollers, 4 belts, stub shaft bearing, poping out of gear which wrecked top gear and reverse gear. Been towed home once. Warming up belts and letting of the throttle easy...i don't even know what that means. Trying to fix all this stuff so the sled can be ridden how I want to ride it.

2 Seasons on mine, approximately 5000k miles on her now. Fairly flawless, chased a boost leak for a few weeks this winter, just ended up replacing all clamps and that was solved. Mods include, torlon rollers, stock mod exhaust, and some minor clutch tuning. 1st belt went 500 miles than grenaded, second went 3200 before showering the lake in shrapnel, on third one now. More than like going back to the 2 smoke life as the local doo dealer, has made me an absurd offer to get me onto one of there 850s. If my riding style wasn't changing i would be on this winder for the long haul.

Oh man, sorry to hear this, like stated above, maybe for the first time in a long time, the first year may have been made with more quality control in mind. So please tell me Yamaha is standing behind this problem.
