Hey guys (and gals), any members ever ride in Northeastern MN? I am in the Hibbing/Chisholm area, but I am somewhat familar with trails North of Duluth up to International Falls, especially the Taconite Trail. Would love to meet some other TY members if ever up in my neck of the woods. I don't get to Houghton very often anymore, and my main trip this year will be back out to Togwotee in the later part of Feb. Drop me a line if you are ever in the area.
We try to get up to the Falls every year, assuming they have snow. It's always fun to run the lakes...can log some serious miles. How are the current conditions up that way?
Haven't been out yet, but heading to Whiteface Reservoir this weekend. We had some cold before any snow so I am guessing we got a good 6" of solid ice before any snow. I have heard mixed reports from Vermillion and other bigger lakes. Got about a 1' dumping two weeks ago and people are saying it forced the ice down and water to rise, slushing a lot of the lakes.
Might try heading up to Finland this weekend depending on snow and ice conditions. I guess areas close enough for lake effect snow have been getting pounded for the most part.
I'll see about taking some pictures this weekend and try to get a report out next week.

Well, I put about 85 miles on this weekend riding the reservoir. We ventured out to the Pequaywan trail only to find we were the first snowmobiles on it this year, and that it has not been groomed yet. Had to turn around and stay on the lake. I ahve heard that a little farther east (Finland) and towards the North Shore, they have been getting a lot of lake effect snow. Had pretty warm weather the last two days and that isn't helping matters as all. Sounds like trails are in pretty rough shape all the way from Grand Rapids to Virginia If anyone has hear anything different, please let me know.
Happy trails and happy holidays to all!

Griz,
I was on the Resivoir trail saturday, Island lake to power line by Canyon, only groomed toward the North shore. Friday Rode 150 on the norht shore and it was good for early season.
I am up there often. Look for an APEX Gt black with a Big rider dressed in black. Look like a black HOLE common at you.
See you on the trail

I am located on the North Shore, we do not have enough snow yet for decent trail riding. Our club grooms the Yukon and we have only been able to groom a small portion of it. I rode last Monday and the state trail was not in good shape, not enough snow to cover everything up. I will keep this post updated as I am on this site alot more often since I bought a yami. We NEED snow!!

We received about ten inches yesterday! The trails should be in good shape this weekend. We will be out grooming the Yukon after Christmas.
