U.P SNOW REPORT

John who? Haha....while I enjoy going to his sight. I wouldn't plan a trip around his forecast.

I think cause if you look at the 5-10 day Outlook he always shows 24"+ in the peninsula. Then I start checking off the calendar to find only 6" came in that time period. Lol! It's all good.

Yeah I think he doesn't really know what he is doing. I feel the same as you. According to his forecast I should have over a foot of snow at my house but don't have enough to cover the grass. It gives me hope though but it usually gets crushed.

I think it's no different than the "professional" weather guessers dilemma. It is just plain difficult to forcast lake effect snows.
It would be nice if they would just admit it! :o|

I recall many years ago we were staying in Ironwood and the guesser inside the tv said "well we might get a light dusting overnight."
We woke up to over 15"...

I would rather have them say we aren't going to get much or any at all then to say we are going to get a bunch and then nothing happens and my hopes get crushed. That's what pisses me off. I understand that lake effect can get hard to figure out but normal weather systems they should be able to do a better job. How come it always seems like they are always right about rain in the summer time a week out but can predict weather 12 hrs out in the winter?

I can't disagree. I'd love to have a job where I have millions of dollars worth of toys to play with and in the end you could've just flipped a coin, and everyone has to accept that.

That's what I don't understand. They have all this high tech stuff to use and they suck at there job. If I sucked at my job that much I would have gotten the boot a long time ago. They only thing they are somewhat ok at is tell what the temp will be give or take a few degrees.

Snowmobiling is definitely a heartbreaker. Take the time off work, get super stoked, only to find it's a bust. No snow.
I'm surprised more of us aren't found in a horizontal position suffering from self inflicted wounds.

I think there's just enough up there now. But you know what they say, more is better!

Yup I stress way too much over the weather during the winter time. That's probably because the winter time is my favorite time of the year and I live to go sledding. There just something about snowmobiling that I don't feel when I do other powersports things. I enjoy going atving but its not the same as jumping on mu sled and going for rip.

I was happy with what we had on the trails up there last weekend.

That looks pretty good!

Rich Kay, have you been around bigbay or Amasa areas yet? just wondering what the conditions are in the general Ishpeming area because we have A group comming up Jan 10th through the weekend and I was hoping we dont have to cancel to go further north to find good trails.

LES is covering 90% of the peninsula at some point today. At least that's what my radar is showing.

No I have not , but would not be too worried as I know they are snow covered and getting more. Very cold temps coming as I right this with LE snows!
