Just wondering if everyone is running the setup provided by Allen or did you change it up a bit. I hear everyone talking about using the WHITE or SILVER spring in the secondary, but my kit came with BLACK springs only(primary and secondary). I bought the kit from a friend and it came with the weights, helix, and black secondary and primary springs....is this correct?
I am 180-190 with gear, 144 studs, 23T gear and running the black spring in the secondary at 6-2 as per Allen suggestion, while a couple of setups I have seen where running the exact setup in 6-3. What is the difference between 6-2 and 6-3?

i tried the set up he suggested at first but i was overreving at 11000 rpm even on a short run so i had a washer(1g) in the middle of the weights
and now i'm right on the money at 10700 rpm. i put the helix at 90* with the silver spring i will try the white spring at 60* to see if there a gain

Did yours come with the silver spring or black?
Is 90* the same as 6-3 and 60* the same as 6-2?

Do you loctite the screw holding the washers on the weight? I didn't, and don't think it's needed, but wasn't sure...

All Stage 3 (or Stage 2 for that matter) come with a silver spring. If you bought it used the silver dot on the spring was likely worn off. The secondary spring will be black with simply a silver dot on it. The primary spring will be black with a orange, pink, orange dots on it.

Thanks. That explains a lot. Since I bought it used I didn't want to keep bothering Ulmer with questions.....but once again he comes through! I thought the whole spring was silver instead of just a dot. I can't find any color on either of the springs just plain black so the paint must of worn off.....I hope, unless I got the wrong springs with the kit from my friend.
So.....again what does 6-2 verses 6-3 do with this setup.

6-2 will upshift quicker dropping the engine rpm slightly. 6-3 will upshift slower bringing the engine rpm up slightly.

So 6-3 might have better backshifting and be a little snapier, while 6-2 will have better acceleration unless it upshifts too quick, right? Which is the better all around trail setup if drag racing isn't a big concern for me? Still 6-2?

Exactly. 95% recommended setups that leave the door from here are 6-3 settings.
