just finished the install- make sure you clamp the flanges together when you are screwing the flanges together. It will help keep them aligned and threaded straight. Nice kit

During install today, I ended up being clumsy and dropped the intake kit and broke off one of the tabs at the bottom. See picture. Will this be a problem if I can't bolt this piece down?

Do you have the piece that broke off? If so using a torch heat up a old screwdriver red hot and use it to weld the piece back on. This plastic really welds nice.

I found about 1/3 of the piece that broke off. Can't find the other piece(s). Damn.

Plenty of guys did turbo that have an extra box they would sell, might be an option.

I want to try and avoid buying a new one and having to go through the install of the Intake Kit again. Anybody think this will be a problem with just one side bolted below the radiator?
If not, looks like I may need to get a new one.

Just drill another hole and use a zip tie. Did this on the Attak for the headlight pod.

Great idea @allyammies! That's exactly what I'll do. Love this site!

If it wasn't for zip ties the hood would fall of my old SXR 700.

I just received the air box mod. It did not come with any instructions or a prefiler. Does anyone have any install instructions? Do all the stock parts remain the same and intact?

The instructions have a template so its probably best to email ulmer. He used to have the instructions on his old website but i cant find them on the new one. I have the instructions somewhere. When you drill the hole and mount the flange make sure the vice grip the 2 flanges together because the bolts strip out very easily

Anyone still have their installation instructions they can share. Ulmer said he lost a file on his computer and hasn't been able to retype a new set of instructions yet. It would be very helpful for me to have the full set so I can do the install correctly.

Well I'm pretty frustrated with this Ulmer air box mod. Was careful to measure for clearance and the aluminum retainer ring inside the box that holds the large air horn on interferes with the snorkel and the edge to allow the lid to close all the way. Instructions do not say to remove the snorkel so I have a big issue.
In addition getting the 8 bolts to line up and thread into aluminum is pretty difficult. Performance is probably good but the design is a difficult install.
Open to suggestions.

If i remember right the snorkel gets removed. Some where having issues with the template location, some said to move it a certain way and it would work good on some sleds and others would have i terference issues.
You need to clamp the flanges together with a c-clamp so each bolt can go straight. It will take a few tries and some stripped bolts but you should be able to get most of them.
