Ulmers Venom Air Box Kit

Seriously? He's doing this all by himself? My goodness he must never get a day off.

Can the ulmer venom intake kit be used with Stingrays air box mod ? Sorry if this is out there already.

I would not advise it. Side flow air drops power band range and my mod is designed for upper range power, adding those vents would drop power down (not less power, just power range). You should use one or the other.

The idea was to not use the warmer air in the belly of the sled so he blocked that entry off. When I spoke with Allen (I have mine opened up) he indicated that he planned to do some testing with this opened, but as busy as he is this time of year...

The bottom stays open (stock), you just remove the snorkel.

The bulk of your air is going to be coming in cold from the side (path of least resistance).

Actually the midrange power is gained by adding length and a radius inlet into each throttle body, rather than the shorter, small radius that is there stock. You'll be faster with more midrange power and more usable power at 9,000 rpm versus less midrange power and higher top end power (9,200 rpm +).

I haven't tried opening the stock opening larger with the side opening. So I can't say if it would gain anything or not.

Is it safe without pcv at sea level ?

I just completed installing the air box kit and it's a great kit! I suggest NOT moving the opening as previously recommended. As that 1/8-1/4 inch takes the air horn up and into the radiator mount and hose and if you raise the radiator 1/4-1/2 inch it hits the hood! So I had to "adapt" the air horn quite a bit to allow clearance for the radiator. It wont affect performance and the pre filter screen hides the "adaption method". So I recommend using the template as is, and when you assemble the air box to first crank all the bolts down on the flange of the kit, then put the lid on and the back off the bolts that are hitting inside. Tighten the lid and then go back and re-tighten the airbox kit. I tried between 1/8 and 1/4 of an inch up from center of the template btw.

And for those who are wondering, no you cannot hear the air intake when you accelerate, like you do with the K/N kit! I combined this kit and the Straightline Performance Muffler and it is barely louder than stock. Now just need SNOW!!!

I will edit my post on the template, for me it was 1/4 low and the box wouldn't close together. I had another box so I just took the top off it and moved it up 1/4.

I am sure there is a happy medium out there and thankfully I had a nice selection of modification/alteration tools... aka ball peen LOL
