UPDATE!!! 2009 NY TY RIDE Jan 21-24th!!!

RX-1man. If you guys don't go due south on wed., I thought maybe Thursday of friday we will do down through South trenton, to Deerfield, to Frankfort, up past the Lanterns, to Bridgewater to waterville, maybe down to Hamilton, then up through solsville, to Vernon, to Rome and back to Mapledale. We have never did that loop because of lack of snow, but hopefully there will be enough this coming week down in that area.

SNOW SNOW SNOW!!!!

Snow is looking GREAT gentleman!!!! Especially just to the west and even south of the Hill

--Steve (O.C.)

Steve, don't think that map is too accurate as we have 1-2 feet of snow in most places here but map show 0-1".

Steve, Where did you pull that map out of. It is off by alot, especially south of Utica. I will try to call you Wed evening, but if I can't get ahold of you, I will meet everyone at the bowling alley Thursday morning at 9:30 sharp. READY TO RIDE, NOT STILL HAVING BREAKFAST. I hope everyone has a great ride on Wed.

I found the snowfall total on another site. It is a map off the NOAA website, which apparently is not very reliable or accurate.

Sounds good Gordon. You can give a call but I am sure we will all be by the Bowling alley Thursday morning enjoying our bacon & eggs at 9:35...hahahaha. You know the drill troops..be there or be square at 9:30am SHARP! AIr horns will be blowing....hopefully nobody is in the bathroom and gets left behind..haha

RX-1Man.....1-2 feet? Geeeezzz, good thing we cancelled the ride down by Marathon!! :o|

Gordon, you can thank my boss for dicking us over on the ride down here. I'd love to do that south loop you are talking about on Thursday as I can't ride after that day. We could still do a south loop Wednesday but head more westerly, still thinking a trip around Oneida Lake would be good.

Dave, The trip around the South end of Oneida Lake then back around the North end will not be any of the same trails I will go on for my south trip except from Verona back to Mapledale so the two trips will be mostly different. I know if you take the trail to West Rome you get on the canal trail trail at Erie Canal Village then follow the signd to Verona state park. At the park you get on the lake (WELL FROZEN NOW) and head almost due south on the lake to the south shore(only about 1 mile or so), and you come off the lake at some restaraunt and get on the trail that goes along the South Shore and passes just North of Cicero. From there I know you can loop around the West end of the lake up past Brewerton to Central Square and then back on the old railroad bed to taberg. The far as I have ever been is Cicero. I did not go around the west end up to Central square. I hope you guys can do it OK. They closed part of the trail going from the Colonial Restaraunt to west Rome. There is a new trail that is not marked that good, if you would like any pointers on how best to get to west Rome, you can call me at my work this eveving # 337-4708 See you on Thursday.

take the lake to Pier 31 restaurant. Cross over the rode and go thru a field or two and you will hit the power lines. At that point, i believe right will take you towards the west end of the lake and left will head towards rome ( at least from what I can remember )

So, looks like only five of us for Wednesday. Steve, Mark, Dave, Tim and me. Doesn't anyone else want to ride? This is the best winter we've had in years statewide.

Honk, hope everything is okay. We missed you on the rides. Waited until 10:15 Wednesday as we thought maybe you had truck trouble or hit bad weather on the way down. Gordon even waited past 9:30 Thursday in case you showed. Post something Mark as we're all concerned about your well being.

Guys, I hope you had a great time. I miss the rides, but wouldn't have made it this time, even if I had wanted to. Came down with the flu on Friday and have been feeling like crap since. Don't think I would have been comfortable with your 200 mile days with my head crammed into a brain bucket.

Hey Guys! Sorry I had to miss the ride. I blew the exhust gastkets, and after I got that done, I was a little nervous about runnin to far. The stealer claimed they had some come back the very next day., because the head bolts loosen up. I followed the advise on line here, and all seems well! used some ultra copper on all boltsand gaskets. But anyway, somthing has been up with logging on? Would not let me on for days. It kept sayin" Error, can't find web site, what would cause this?
Anyway , hope all went well! see ya next time! Honk

Honk, glad you're okay and it was only the sled that had issues. I've started a new post for ride down my way in Feb. Hope you can make it.

SOrry to hear about your sled issues Honk. We missed you on the ride.

Here are some of the riding details (Correct me if I am wrong Gordon or Dave)

Day 1 Weds 1/21..about 175 miles
Great job leading the crew this day RX1-Man. We left out of Barneveld around 10am..headed west and did the loop around Oneida Lake. Down through Rome, West Rome, along the long power lines trail along the south side of Oneida Lake, through Bridgeport, and into Cicero for lunch. We came back on the other side of I-81 up to and through Central Square and then along the north side of Oneida Lake passing through Constantia, McConnellsville, and back into Rome stopping at the Colonial Restaurant for dinner..good food. Now where did AirMech put that friggin key?!?!?! Should have took pics of the dope on the Nitro (who ran out of gas on the trail, mind you) with a bright orange sticker on his sled that said "F**k You..I have enough friends"..some people. All in all a great ride with plenty of snow with about 175 miles total

Day 2 Thurs 1/22...about 165 miles
Led by our fearless leader, Big Black Warrior, the plans were to head south for the day. Maybe BBW can chime in with more details. But we did a great ride to the south towards through Frankfort/Illion areas, Sangerfield and Waterville ares (south of I-90). Alittle bumpy on some of the lesser groomed trails but plenty of snow and I'm sure we could have kept going further south. I believe we did about 160-165 for the day.

Day 3 Fri 1/23..and then there were three!! 110 miles
More of a fellow feeling casual ride today, stopping along the way for some scenic photo ops. We left Barneveld and headed out East towards through Salisbury and Dolgeville areas. Stopped in the Salisbury RIdgerunners club house for lunch bu they were closed so we kept on trucking to Dolgeville and stopped for a nice lunch at Arthurs Restaurant. Came back through Middleville, Poland, then up the other side of Route 12 through Marcy and towards Holland Patent. Clicked off an easy 110 miles that day.

All in all, a great ride, plenty of snow and great trails to be had. It was great seeing everyone again and doin some TY ridin'. I had just about 500 miles logged for the three days I was there. It was great riding some of the new areas (to me) to the south and seeing some different scenery
Looking forward to the next ride!

Ride pics to follow. Post up some ride pics if ya got em'.

--Steve (O.C.)

PS. Good thing I now carry an extra nut and bolt, as BBW was missing the same bolt as me Friday morning. Make fun if ya want gentleman, but the contents of my trunk might save your day!! And I wasn't even a boyscout!!
