Do anybody know where I can buy the updated ECU for my 2007 Venture Lite? I'm starting to kill my battery trying to start it in the morning. Turns over a lot before starting. A used one of course, Yamaha wants $600 for a new one

EBay or any of the used parts vendors here would have it. Just be sure it's the one with the number that ends in -10.

There are more updates then just thee ECU to properly fix the cold start issues.

Can timing was changed also. and a few other things. Its on here some where . do a search for it. There's a kit Yamaha sold . came with cam, ecu, ground strap ....sorry I can't be any more help then that. Just don't want to see you do half the job and still not be happy with it and get frustrated at it . good luck

Woah, back up a bit. We're talking about ECU and cold weather updates here. Ground strap (or rather the ground block) is a totally separate update.
Yes, there was also an updated decompression cam spring but not the cam itself. Where did you get your info about changed timing? As far as we know, what was changed was the crank time to start. Before, it waited for oil pressure to build up before allowing it to start. When I had mine updated, it went from 6-8 revs down to 4 to start in regular weather. In extreme cold, the decompression spring would help there. So get the ECU used but if you want to do the spring, get it from Yamaha.
Attached is the actual bulletin.

If I get the updated ECU from somewhere like ebay, will my sled show the current mileage it has now or will it show the mileage from the ECU that i'm buying once installed. And just to make sure the part number for the new ECU is 8GC-8591A-10-00?

The odometer info is stored in the gauge pod so no problem there. If the number has -10 in it, it's the updated one. The original was -00.
