Greased my idler wheels today but was wondering how easy it is to do the upper ones and also how easy it is to pull the rear axel out to grease those wheels? I have a 06 attack with 1200 miles on it and I greased the drive shaft and jack shaft bearings today also.....man the grease that was in there looked like dried up mud!!

I just finished changing all my bearings. Speedo, drive line, jackshaflft, chaincase all five or six bearings. Its not hard at all. Time consuming yes but not hard. If your bearings looked that bad (if it was mine) I would have changed them.

Do I need to take the skid out to do the uppers and to take the rear axel out? Our can I just loosen the track up to get em out?

Also the bearings looked good....just dry...like not enough grease from the factory

You might be able to without removing the skid. It'll be much easier thou if u take the few extra minutes to remove skid. Even if they looked fine I would have still replaced them. But again that's just me.

The uppers on the Attak simply come out. Zip out the bolts and the shaft and wheels are out. Getting it back in takes a little patience and muscle but it will go in.
I remove and grease them about three times a season.

Thanks for all of the help!! Are the bearings in the rear wheels greaseable like the other wheel bearing? Do you have to take the bearing out of the wheel to do it?

If I'm not mistaken, the 06 idlers had non replaceable bearings in them, meaning the whole idler had to be replaced.

I would say likely someone has replaced your other idlers if you were able to grease those, unless you didn't remove them from the idler wheel?

I replaced all my lower wheels in my skid with new 2010 wheels, which have the replaceable bearings and what I have found is, the rear larger diameter wheels for don't need the mtce/grease like the smaller wheels do. (likely due to they spin much slower?

By far, the worst bearings are the inner 2 near the rear, those wear out/need mtce the most for some reason.

If they are the non replaceable type you can still grease them. With a small screwdriver or pick you can sneak out the seal, clean out the bearing and fill it with grease again.
