Used Apex Model Recommendation

Look for a low mileage Attak...that's what I did and I an NOT disappointed!

They just auctioned one off on ebay for $5600. it had 735 miles on it. No mods and garaged. I bought mine last Feb with 800 miles on it for $5600 as well. If you look you can find them still. I sold my other 07 Attak I bought new and put on 10000 miles win no issues for $3500 so for short change I'm into a fine machine cheap. Took off all the accessories and add on's before I sold it to make the deal sweeter for me as well.

Can you get the GT's and ER's to handle like the RTX? It seems like the floats have a big advantage with the ride height adjustment.

I would think so; the air in the Floats does the same thing as a coil spring. For a lower ride height, simply lower the coil spring preload.

I tried 50psi in my floats yesterday and WOW, it rode a lot better than it did at 55psi.

I like the Attak/Ltx models (136) better than the short track (121). The 136 not only hooks up better but they bridge the bumps better too... not to mention they seem to be faster. Don't be afraid of one that has 10,000 miles or so if it has been taken care of. Certain wear items, bearings, hyfax, exhaust donuts and bushings are normal wear on any sled. If the owner did these simple items on time and changed oil every year these machines will last a LONG time. I just bought a used higher mileage 2007 Attak GT that is mint and was very well maintained. I just put 650 miles on it in Michigan and I could not be happier. Keep in mind Nick Keller has over 70,000 miles on a Vector at the moment. Your dealing with street bike type engines here, not throw away motors like most two strokes.

I love my 07 RTX over my daughters 06 RTX, Im 260 lbs geared up ready to ride, the only problem with the CK skid is the front center wheels. I have over 12,000 miles on mine now and still love it.

I pm'd you.

Picked up my new sled today, ended up with an 06' GT. I wanted an RTX, but couldn't pass up the GT due to the mileage (2500). Probably wont do too much to it this year, just ride since it's looking like only a week left here in central WI.

Next year I will be adding a 7.2kg rear spring, 13mm sway bar and changing the studs to Woodys. Currently it has 96 no-namers in it, i will probably bump it up to 160 gold diggers. Those additions along with new exhaust gaskets and I'm thinking i will be in business.

Is there anything else I should be taking a look at?

Now I just gotta move my old sled...

When you buy the studs go buy Woody's recommendations. For that machine it is 1.325 GoldDigger. And use the amount they recommend. I think that amount on the short track might be too much. And of course no outside of the wheels studs.
I'd install ice scratchers as well. They didn't come in 06 with a rear cooler. It will be prone to overheating in certain trail conditions. If you have nice powder all the time then fine. Also the scratched will save Hyfax and these machines eat them up.
One more item is to get Yamaheaters for the grips. The grips are cold on that sled. Either that or buy a nice set of gaunlets. See Yamaheater.com. Rock the owner will answer any questions.
