I had a 92! I don't think any of the Max 4's had any real known issue's! Out of all the sleds I have owned I think the Vmax-4 will be the first one I will own again some day when I quit riding and racing and just have a toy to play with. They were just a very cool sled and still are! They were worth owning for the sound alone!!

You might get better response on the 2 stroke side, but what are you looking for? The vmax4 was good at one thing only, going like a bat out of hell on a lake. It was pretty much worthless for anything else.
V Max-4.....lol
Looked HOTT

Was HOTT
BUTT........Lousy Ride, Horrible On Fuel.....BUTT FAST
Overall a Bullet Proof Sled

By 1995 it had a better crank, secondary clutch, 800cc (prior models were 750cc). I loved mine (1993)wish I never sold it. My next door neighbor has it now with 12000 miles on it still hasn't opened up the engine ever. Great engine.

The V Max 4 was the one sled I really wanted and never purchased . Ended up going from an Exciter to the SX 700 , and skipped over the VMax 4 .
If I could find a near new , last model year made (98 , I think), even though the 92 may have been the best looking , I too would buy one for the odd blast across the lake , but mostly to look at , and listen to !
That would make 8 Yammies I've owned , and never a blue one yet !

Are you willing to care for a snowmobile more than you care for snowmobiling?

Agree with the pros of the v-4 95-97 era( 150 hp) , I have two 96 & a 92 BB, still fun to hit the trail with. they can still compete & turn heads when set up properly.

I had a 1992 model. Lots of Yamaha hype at the time, but a great underachiever.
Factory clutching sucked.
Riechard Performance ?? kit worked better, as long as you didn,t have to let off to steer. Zero backshift.
In my opinion, after riding a recent sled, those oldies are best left sitting in the garage as a conversation piece.
IF you buy one, what are you actually planning on doing with it ?
