My dad has a 2012 vector and it seems to be slower now than when he first got it. He can only get 90 out of it now and he said it used to have more left in it when it was new. It only has 2000 miles on it.Besides trail conditions, is there any reason it would be slower now than before or is that the speed everyone else is seeing too?

I have a Vector LTX 2012, don't know which model your Dad has. Mine would do about 90 mph last year and the mileage on the sled was 1600. This year I'm ad 94-95 mph (gps) and 97 mph (dreamometer) with 3300 miles. I think mine is loosening up some more and trail conditions play a huge role in top speed. Track tension is also an important factor in you top speed. Does you Dad have studs? they can also slow you down.

Track tension will do it.

If a track is too loose, it will balloon and become like a big flat tire, and rob serious power.

We have a 2011 vector that ran 107 on GPS last year. That was on a lake with an inch of wet snow on it. 111 on the speedo. 200 pound rider and about 2000 ft.

Its the standard vector with no studs. The track isn't loose nor is it tight. The belt shouldn't be worn that much in only 2000 miles to make a difference should it? The conditions weren't the problem either. He had it to the bar multiple times and each time was the same.Barely crept up to 90. Maybe it was warmer out this time compared to last?

Howdy neighbor! My wifes 2009, which is still carbed did 100 on the dream o meter a month ago in some good hard pack conditions. I don't think hers ever did a whole lot better so far. No studs and 7400 miles on it.

I've had my 2007 RS Vector GT for 3 seasons and I've hit 101 MPH on the dream meter once and 100 a couple other times. This year I've "only" gone 98 MPH. Bummer. I think in perfect conditions it might do close to 105 MPH. It get's up to 80-85 MPH real fast which is ideal for me.

Mine was slower this year too. Before in good conditions I could hit 104-108 on the speedo. This year not much over 100 and was revving too high. Belt was glazed and slipping. Put on a new belt and performance came back.

My 2010 Vector with an Excel header, ulmers clutch kit and geared down one tooth on top, will run 110 to 112 MPH on hard packed snow and 114 to 115mph on glare ice. I run the track loose and the sled has 96 studs and sno-trackers. All these speeds are on the dream meter. Very, Very happy with it.

My '12 LTX did 99 on a 2000 foot radar run recently and the wishmeter read 102mph, so the gage is pretty good, at least compared to the older Yammies.. I tried premium fuel at one point, even though the book says regular ONLY. I found perfornance lacking with premium so went back to regular and it works better again.. Just use regular, like the book says. I run the track loose..

My 2010 GT vector shows 104 with my 270 on lake hard pack and on a great day 108 with my 90 pound lighter son in perfect lake ice with a little snow. This speedo is much more accurate then my old 06 Apex....... So they are no Apex rocket but they move alright. (Apex hit 124 on the perfect day described above)

Some Tyers will remember helping me cut off the belt after that 104 high speed run- Hey it had 7thousand miles on it. This was on the Ty Manitoba ride....lots of fun

We went out riding last night and he hit 91 and said there was more left. He had been running 91 because it had no ethanol, but ran 87 in the last tank so maybe that was the problem.
