Hello, I am riding a great deal on hardpack with my 2007 Phazer Mtn and I am experiencing some overheating problems. I am to the point where I just remove the MAG side panel and it works great, but a tad ugly. Does anybody make a forward vent/door kit that can be installed in the MAG side panel to allow more air to get to the rad? It would be great snap some sort of a plug or panel door on/off to obtain more air rather than removing the whole panel.

Thanks!

In the boating industry you can get what is called a deck plate which is a ring and a cap that can be removed as needed by unscrewing. They come in different sizes and maybe one placed in the panel right below the rad would work. I'm not sure if there is enough clearance in that spot or not.

Another option would be to use a screen such as the Frogzskin which come in universal sizes.

Do you have a fan installed on your radiator? I'm assuming you don't, since you're having over-heating problems. If you install a fan, your problems will be solved.

My VMP overheated running in low snow and I do have the fan. It was just at a particular speed where you're not making enough air flow through the radiator and the fan is not enough to cool that small rad for the amount of heat being produced. If you do have a fan, there's maybe a couple of things you could do. Maybe cut open the area of the cover in front of the rad that is partially covering it. If you installed the optional protective grill in front of the rad (like I did), remove it to improve air flow.

I thought about that grill as well because I only started to have over heating since installing it. Will have to put in some extra vents to help that and ice scratchers are supposed to help also.

If you don't have scratchers you are missing the easiest fix. That big heat exchanger in the tunnel either gets ice and snow to do it's job or it gets exhaust heat to some degree.
