I have searched and couldn’t find a timeline for what changes came in each year on the Venture snowmobile. I’m mostly interested in 2012 and newer with eps. I’m looking at a 2012 just because I found one and wonder if the shorter track will be a downfall.

I don't think much changed from 12 on. My wife rides a 14 short track 144 (non TF) and is very happy with it.

you might be better off with the GT instead of the TF...TF has drone at 35mph. I've never ridden the GT but I have not heard of that sled having drone. Joe

Gt has drone to

I ride a sidewinder 2up and no drone, the venture is a good machine though and if you can get one for a good price you won't be sorry. very good touring sleds. Joe

once you have possession of the sled please post a photo, good luck and congrats. Joe

MY Venture GT 144 drone went away for the first 200 miles after new slides then returned. To me its just a tunnel harmonic of the wheels hitting the fiberglass rods in the track. MY 2 CENTS

Years ago someone removed all wheels and had no Drone. I always wondered how many miles per slides......may be worth it.

you'd think after so many years of production they'd put on silent tracks...noise? what noise? Every now and then an article will come out on how they took a Venture TF and made it quiet, it was an engineering school project..I seriously doubt they ever got the drone to go away. I ported my track on my TF and still had drone..I'd say the article is a bunch of bull. Joe

Besides Drone its a great reliable sled.

Almost 27 000 km on my 2012 Venture GT.
Besides the exhaust donuts, it's been a great sled.
I will not buy another Yamaha that has this exhaust system as it is such a nuisance!!!!
Your rear suspension, lift the sled off the ground. Release pressure on the front coil over shock until the spring almost turns freely with no weight on it. Tighten the nuts, and you're good to go. If you don't do this, the sled will feel like it'll fall over in the corners. Crappy setup from Yamaha. I do this on all Yamaha's.
If it's parked outside overnight, on a cold night, EPS won't work until things warm up under the hood, say 20-30 km.
On it's second set of slides, and I'm thinking of changing them again.
Just replaced the track, 25000 km on it when it started to fall apart. It was not studded.
SnoTrackers carbides with "0" toeout. They'll last 10000km a set. No darting at all!
First belt lasted 12000 km, second belt lasted 13000 km.
I have boot warmers for real cold days, as there is no engine heat at your feet, because of the exhaust setup.
Live with the drone.
Let it snow!
Enjoy!!!!

I have a 2002 Honda CBR 1100 (Black Bird) and it has a drone at a certain speed. My Apex Has a drone at a certain speed. I think it’s just the result of the engine design and exhaust. I do know that the engines are designed to bounce sound waves back and forth in the exhaust (and air box) timed to help get rid of exhaust gasses when the valves are fully open.

I've heard some say the exhaust has something to do with the drone but I tend to doubt that because it only happens at a certain speed and that would make me believe it has more to do with the track..the funny thing is my wife says she never heard it when riding in the back, so seems to me there is an air pressure thing going on behind that big windshield...really though I have no clue what makes the noise otherwise Id fix it, tell all here on Ty but instead I fixed it by getting rid of the sled..that drone drove me nuts.
