I have 14 xtx and not sure if bn the battery was original but it is a yamaha "stock" battery. It started fine everytime till I got up to the U.P. and decided then it t didn't want to go. I got the sled in October and this was the second weekend in December when that happend.

Sometimes they just go south. My LTX 5,000+ still on original. My XTX, 3,200, still good. My 16 Vector, 800 miles battery shot. Another in our group lost hers in MTX after preseason oil change. When they go, they just die.

As long as we are talking battery, what are you guys recommending to use? I believe the original is a Yuasa. Are they a sealed battery? Thanks

We sell interstate at work. They are identical to the oe battery. They are sealed glass mat battery.

I found that starting your sr viper in 20+f and up is not an issue for a battery at even 50% capability. When the temps get low the ability of the battery goes way down. I had found a chart published by a battery manufacturer with respect to cca vs temperature and found it very interesting. I will see if I can find it again.

2015 RTX with 6,100 miles. Original battery. Key to life is battery tender IMO

I bought my sled used at the end of the season 2017 and had to replace the battery. I bought a stock replacement from my local dealer. In the fall the battery was dead. The dealer replaced it and warrentied it for 1 year. Saturday it was -25C and couldn't get the sled started without a booster. The battery cranked it a few times but slowed quickly. Hope the battery is ok...

I’m on a loop for six days north of Quebec City and for the last five days and nights it has not gotten above a single digit and most of the time it is well below zero. There are two vipers, three apexs and one Polaris two stroke. -22 and two of the apexs failed to start. Both vipers fired first shot and the Polaris took a bit of time but did fire. All the machines are well maintained and run very strong. I did notice some frost on the underside of my aluminum gas cap and put a bit of dry-gas in each sled. Seemed to help one apex but the other probably has bad plugs. Both vipers have brand new batteries.

Batteries really seem to be a crap shoot, Replaced the original on my Phazer this fall after 9 years of service as it was getting slow at startup and had a 12.2v resting voltage, my Viper is still on its original and still has a 12.7V resting voltage. Bought 2 Honda 420's 10 years ago, one is on its original and one is on its 3rd battery, both that died gave no warning signs.

1100 miles as of today on my 14 XTX still on the stock battery, I'm surprised how well it has held up.

Batteries are batteries are batteries! They can be your friend or foe! They can last years or crap out in months. I found the best way to get longevity is keep them charged up in the off season! Then you can’t cuss if it craps out, nature of the beast sometimes.

Going on 4th year with original battery. Set the tender on it all off season. Think it will make it another year?
