viper diet....

Good golly buy that country some grass!!! we have a product here made by Scott's works wonders and our sleds stay clean!!!

That is beautiful though. How many acres or do they call them hectors do you have out your back door?

To reduce weight, I'm considering a super cap and Li-Po battery pack (Home brew). I'm worried about how the Li-Po batteries will do in the cold, but the caps should produce more than enough cranking amps when fully charged. Could get down to a pound or two and be much smaller than the stock setup. If I do it, I'll make sure I keep my stock battery for awhile as a stand by just in case... Food for thought.

Edit: I also worry about the sled not starting on the first try or two...

that is my big worry that the battery doesn't have enough juice on the first few cranks and the compression is too much for the starter to crank through.... end result new starter and ring gear..... pull the engine to flush all the little teeth out :(

If I were running a small batt like you guys are looking at I would find a place for it and solenoid in front under the hood. They are light enough that it shouldn't effect much handling wise and the biggest plus is you could shorten up the battery cables. Sled may even start better!

one of the ballistic batteries or the shoria batteries will fit in the "Y" below the steering, you would just need to use the two existing bolts to lock down a small tray.

And you could use the extra cable to make a pigtail to the side panel like Apex has just in case you need to jump start or charge battery.

Got some time to re-visit an old project, I have been looking for time to slowly shave down the stock 2014 viper seat. I really wanted to get rid of the taper in the seat and some of the extra foam on the back section. I was not a fan of how the seat got wider the further back you put your legs.
started with the length of the seat, tried to get it close to the mountain seat.

You can see how much was cut off the end here and a bit of how much came out of the sides were your knees hit

Still have a lot of shaping before the seat is stapled back together and even more trimming to make the foam feel smooth

Got some more parts in and had a chance to install a new riser and mountain fit hood vents for the side panels.
The riser is just 1" taller and in black.... It had to be a cat riser since Yamaha doesn't offer one..

The Mountain fit vents went in awesome and fit very well.... Wish I found these last year! I have been wanting to get a vent over the exhaust side panel vent. These vents come as a pair, one for each side, aluminum washers and rivets included. Another benefit with this kit is it allows you to cut some of you panel out to allow more air flow. I know it is not a whole lot but any chance I can get some more cold air in the engine bay I am gonna do it.

I never even looked at the cat frog skin ones :o| hahaha well I will let you know hoe these work

I find that side hilling the back end drops a bit more with the YTX20 in the back vs my ballistic battery, mainly when I stop on the side hill and want to get going again. I was always a big fan of Yamaha having the battery up front.... This has been an idea that I have wanted to look into for some time..... If it was a simple swap I was hoping to compare ride quality in the mountains.....and 15 lbs off the back end of the machine cant be a bad thing lol

Are you back to the stock battery? What happened to the LFX18A-BS12 battery? Didn't work in the cold?
