Viper gas mileage

I think that 15mpg is a more realistic fuel mileage for a viper.

Sent from my Galaxy S7

I get 14.2 - 14.9 on my XF7000. Thats tight, twisty trails. And I’m not ‘gentle’ on the throttle.

My first fill up during break in was just over 14mpg. After the break in I wanted to see how much it improved so I took a real nice and easy 125 mile cruise. By nice and easy I mean no wot and steady on the go flipper. The sled ran perfect, trail conditions were perfect, temps were in the upper teens and I got a whopping 12.9. I double and triple checked my figures but that's what it was. We recently got back from a sled trip and first day of riding at what I would call spirited riding netted 14 mpg. The 600 etec doo's I was riding with were 17 and the 900 Ace, forget about the 900 Ace I think that thing was running off the battery, it was 20 plus. Next day same results. Here is where is gets interesting. Last day was super long stretches, long sweeping corners, perfects trail conditions. Many many stretches of wot throttle and constant smooth throttle pulls coming out of the corners. First half of day netted just over 14.6mpg, 600 etecs exact same mileage 14.6, 900 ace 17. The boys thought I was cheatin on the fill up so they wanted to monitor my next fill up lol. The ride back had several long lakes and was a bit of a quicker pace than previous in the day. At one point I got a big grin on my face because the gas lights came on the 600 etec doo's and mine had not. The last fill up netted 15.1 mpg on mine, 14.6 on the etecs, and the 900 ace was again just shy of 17. I am not sure if the Yammi just runs more efficient in the upper rpm band? If it is just starting to really loosen up? When I get a chance, I want to do another low speed, mellow run and see if the mileage suffers again. There is currently just over 1000 miles on the sled with the only modification being the soft start spring from barn of parts.

Mines been getting better as I've racked up miles now, worst tank this winter was 15.5 (93 miles/6 US gallons) for trail riding and I was pushing it as hard as I could, including quite a few 0-100 runs trying to see how fast I could get her going. I always "burp" the tank at every fill-up to make sure its accurate. I also have the Straighline/Ulmer can and a Airbox mod which leans out the mixture a bit, which might help. Best was 129 miles on 7.5 gallons, a hair over 17, while on a medium pace ride (mostly 35-55mph range). Same ride, my Phazer showed 135 miles and I don't know how it didn't run out, took 7 gallons.

Here’s my take with 8126.00 miles on it.
13-15 is the mpg range,
At 125 miles you better be at a gas station or carry extra gas (I do)
You must properly burp your tank on every fill up or your range is greatly affected.
You will never run the range consistently with the e techs, especially the 600.
Only change I made to my sled is the soft start primary clutch spring.
I run with all e techs every season.

I have almost 15000 km on my 2016 stx dx 146 . This sled is 90 lb heavier than other vipers.
I get between 16 and 18 mpg imp = (13.5 to 15 us gal ) Depending on conditions. have got as high as 20 mpg imp = 16.5 mpg us

150 km then the fuel light starts. This is riding narrow Bumpy trails , steady on the throttle, Low speed.. no long WOT runs. i have ridden 600km on the sled and have almost the same mpg ,liter/10km whatever conditions and riding style. 2014 stock viper xtx se.

I could be wrong but I think that has to do with the different gearing compared to the 137 track length gearing.

Checked today after a 300 mile ride 19.49 mpg to a imperial gallon
.slow steady trails with no happy trigger
