Viper Turbo clutching

I am finding I have to go against some of my previous clutching thoughts with these turbo's. I agree these like to be loaded HARD!!. This engine wants to work, not just spin.
What is your total weight?

They r around 72 grams but compared to my super tips the weight seems to be distributed more towards the mid and tip of the weight . Hard to compare spring and helix setups with different cam arms. Profile of the weight can make a big difference.

The purple spring is a monster and kills the top end a bit. Steep helix and heavy weights r needed for that baby

Yeah that purple is mean. I tried the Dalton red but could not get acceptable throttle response on the trail with the helix's I had available. I don;t usually like stiff a secondary spring but with this turbo I am starting to have to rethink some things

How do you guy find the time to do all this testing and tinkering? Lol.

When I don't work I want to be out riding in the woods. :sled1:

I do some of it on the trail. While others are smoking cigs or taking a leak I will change a primary or secondary spring or helix.

As well as my current set up was working I thought I could leave it alone. Nope. I seem to have some sort of clutching OCD.
More testing.
8JP belt.
Heelclicker black primary spring----140-400
Draggin flies with 2.7 grams in the tail
3.1 grams heel
.8 grams in the tip
77.4 grams total weight
Secondary--51-43 helix, purple spring with 0-1 TWIST---I am kind of married to this secondary set up as softer springs have not given me the kind of throttle response on the trail I like.
Engagement @3000 RPM
Shift out 8900-9000RPM
Slight overflash with cold belt--can't seem to get rid of this and have come to kind of accept it. Maybe a helix change to 53/43 Radius angle? Any thoughts?
Pulls HARD on the trail. Good throttle response on the trail. Pulls RPM in hard pack and powder.
I am tempted to add .5--1.0 grams to the tip to pull the RPM's down to @8800 but I think I might be treading the line right now for weight vs. throttle response. I think I will add some weight to the tail and try again--I can do that on the trail.
I didn't do a full out top speed run, the lake is pretty rough right now with all the ice fishing. That being said top speed is not my ultimate goal. I want this thing to pull your arms off to 100mph
This turbo is really starting to come on.

I'm running a hurricane with daves clutch was banging rev limeter out of the hole so I added a washer to the tip still banging talked to dave and he told me to put it in the heal so i movedit to the heal and now its ok out of the hole but now bangs it mid range need it on the tip???

I believe the Hurricane kit uses the stock primary spring....
I would add a small amount to the middle or tip.

Witch would be better middle or tip?

Try a small amount (2 grams) in the middle and then drive it. Check full shift out RPM

Thanks Stan will give it a try we are very close I might also say i'm 1.6 no studs xtx so it might be different
