Good day to the VK Professional group”
Has anyone ever contacted Yamaha and asked when they have a known issues, “exhaust dumping into the Tunnel” and causing ice ups that they do not include this update on new machines. Especially when they have the side exhaust change up that they want to sell you for $200.00 plus dollars plus installation. Not a very good service policy.

People talk about using a rubber mallet to remove the ice buildup, does anyone have any pictures of what’s happening inside the tunnel, being new to the VK Pro I am not really visualizing what’s happening?

I believe my mirrors have been installed upside down, and on wrong side, my adjustment is about zero, will check this out and repost if I resolve this. Anyone else see this. (2021 pro 2)

Does anyone have the Yamaha part number for the coolant heater that works on the VK Pro 2 and where does it get mounted. Possibly various configurations for various years and updates?
Has anyone thought of using a heating pad to lay on the rad for cold weather preheat, might have to test this out as it seems feasible when you have power available.

How warm/hot does the under seat storage get, I am talking about camera gear and electronics that might enjoy the heat for there battery’s and also first aid kit, bandage glue will not like too much heat, just/looking for your experience not actual temp.

Thanks for your time and patience, just trying to get my sled set up for more on snow enjoyment. Bearman

I have wasted my time on similar issues on my MP when it was new. Spend the 200, you won't regret it. Because I have the exhaust kit I can't tell you what goes on but I assure the kit is the easiest and cheapest solution if you put a price on your time. You will want the mallet for the running boards anyway.

Yup, yer mirrors were likely installed incorrectly.

Underseat storage runs from warm to toasty ... depending.

You asked elsewhere about screening the vents. I duct taped over mine when we got the present unprecedented dump of snow. Keeps the underseat warmer as the fan is on more.

Im going to take mine to a local muffler shop and save the $$ the dealer would charge for rerouting the exhaust.

Internet took a dive and it doubled posted. Whoops lol

Yukon MP,
You are bang on about the mirrors, took them both off and reversed there locations, I can now adjust them so I can see more than my knees. Best part is when properly installed they are both casting stamped, with an L or an R, visible on the top narrow/ round part of the mirror where they adjust. Minor factory or dealer assembly?
Thanks again. Bearman

I was told dealer.

There may be an issue with the oil capacity amounts when you do your oil changes. One or two guys reported that the machines seem to have taken more that the 3.0 or 3.1 indicated in the manual for O/C no filter. My dealer did my first service and I got it back from them with low oil. When I did my next oil change it seemed to take at least 3.7, I'm still monitoring but the oil light comes on when done as per the manual.

That’s interesting and I kind of expect the oil change capacity to vary as anytime you have a dry sump engine you might have oil staying in the engine instead of returning to the oil tank. I have never seen inside these engines but it would not be unusual for there to be pockets where oil can stay instead of getting back to oil tank. I think this is especially true when side hilling, tipping on its side for any reason, or just riding on a an extreme sloped surface for any period of time. Sounds like we need to be very diligent when looking at our oil levels. Thanks for sharing. Bearman

I take it these are the same as the Vector, and I have found the right amount to be 3.3 liters with filter change.
I estimate the engine holds .6-.8 liter.

Hi 74 Nitro
Will be keeping a close eye on the oil level especially as the engine breaks in as if the rings do not seat there can be oil consumption. Interesting that the Yamaha owners manual is a bit conflicted as to oil quantity, makes it most worthy of closer checks, I always believe in watching all service levels closely as they can indicate a problem before it actually happens. Oil is much cheaper than parts so it is always priority one. Thanks for your input. Bearman
