Ulmer clutch kit for 2011 Apex seems to be in order. I want better bottom and mid range feel like the sled should have better get up and go. I will be adjusting EXUP just wondering if anyone has experience with Ulmers clutch kit on a 2011-15 Apex and will it be worth 400$ give me what I am looking for?

I just purchased Ulmers kit and have it ready to install next time I get to my sled. I don't keep it at home during the season.
Allen told me on the phone not to expect more top end... just faster low and mid range.

That's what he messaged me. I had the kit on my old sled. With my 2011 I raced a 2015 etec two races one was bad launch on his part and I had him out of the hole the other he got me out of the hole and pulled the whole way through. I just expected more power from the Apex so I'm going to try the clutch kit hopefully wake it up. I was told Yamaha fixed the hand warmers but I still had to get yamaheater so maybe same is with the clutch needs a little help.

I still have the handwarmers stock. I switched from the Powermadd rigid handguards to Yamaha's semi rigid guards. They provide better wind protection and can easily be removed if not needed.

Apex does pull hard, the issue is if our sled weighted about 200 lbs. lighter. I have a 2011 XTX and I am a 300 lbs. rider. Well my buddy is 200 lbs. and rides a 2012 E-Tec 800. I can run with him and top end catch him, I’ll never get him in a drag race. It’s not in our sleds DNA I feel. Stock E-tec 550 pounds top my sled is 700 plus. Need the same power just less weight.

My 06 killed his 12-and 14 etecs in drag and top end that's the thing. Unless his 15 is just over all better built.

If you are looking for a little more bottom end, you could swap out your 24 top gear for a 23 tooth gear (which is in the XTX), this should pick it up a little bit as long as you can control the extra track spinning.

^The 15 is supposed to have more so I here. I have a 2011 xtx and went to a ulmer clutch, geared down to a 21 top gear and went to a backcounty track and really made it hall the mail. I machined the clutches to give me some top end back. I will be running this coming week on a long ride with a 2014 turbo cat and 2015 turbo cat bone stock and we will see how it runs with them.My 06 killed his 12-and 14 etecs in drag and top end that's the thing. So is there much difference with the kit? I raced the 15 etec again today and he still got me out of the whole and I can't pass him. I think my EXUP is out. I am still thinking hard about the clutch kit for next season.I put in the ulmer kit in mine was boring without it

I was riding with a 2015 800 E-Tec this past weekend... it was still in the break-in period and was hands down the quickest (and fastest) thing on snow that I have ever ridden. I have a hard time seeing how any non-boosted Apex could catch it in a drag race. That being said, I would still take my Apex any day over it though.
