Stud roes you got to keep in mind that 50 60 miles per hour and that kind of power is less than 3 seconds

Oh no doubt! The viper isn't slow, it's very quick, but no match for a well hung cat turbo. I'd say it takes less than 5 seconds for a cranked up cat turbo to come past. That's kinda what I'm getting at, the viper is quick and a blast to ride, but in stock form is no comparison to a cat turbo

have any of you ever been on an Arctic Cat z1 or 1100 turbo I was on my buddies last year on forth lake at old forge new york me and my other buddy settled back with the 1100 and z1 and then blew by the vipers and my rx1 probably at least 25 miles per hour what a rush hard to believe they were wide open I want that kind of power in a Yamaha
Jim you can have that kind of power in the Viper but it costs close to $9k on top of the sled. You need the MPI 190 kit $5500 installed, boost & AFR gauges about $450 installed. Upgraded fuel pump $795 installed. 4th injector and extra gems controller to run it about $1000 installed. clutch kit installed $450 installed. Secondary machined for 8 dn belt $40 Installed. Head shim $500 installed ( I went with carillo rods and wiseco low compression pistons instead). Dyno time to tune gems controllers and set clutching $500.00 =$9235
That gets you 143.65 HP at the track x 1.76 = 252 hp at the crank Which is instant power unlike the tractor motor in the Cat Turbo

Or you can buy a leftover 1100 procross turbo for slightly over $11k, spend $300 on a quick spoiling ecu flash and get an instant 265hp. I'm all about the viper, but I'd be lying if I said I have never thought about going with the cat turbo. Just for the record the prices listed^^ are prolly retail prices on everything, I have my stage 1 mpi turbo, aem boost and afr digital gauges all installed start to finish for $4470. That's the cost of the turbo, gauges and all the labor for installation.

Thats a great deal did someone buy it and not want it? It was too new to be a leftover. Oh thats right not everyone has a cousin that works at D&D and will sell stuff at cost. The rest of us pay retail.
Last year the kit was $4895 and about $650 for labor without the gauges then more for clutch kit Aem AFR is $157 and boost gauge was $124

Keep in mind the cat with a reflash is still not as quick as the 3 holer. I ran up against 2 last year when I was only running 6#'s and dusted the one and was even with the other.
We will see this year at the trail turbo shoot out. It is interesting that even though I am making the same HP as the reflashed CAT I have to put their turbo on my motor to run in their class in the grass drags otherwise I have to run in the outlaw class against 400 hp and up sleds.

Anyone that's charging $1000 to install that kit is committing highway robbery! They sold me the kit at dealer cost, it was brand new in the box, they purchased 2 kits and just sat on them hoping to sell them. I like to think that we both helped each other out. They offered me the kit after the season and the snow was all ready gone. The agreement was they'd sell it to me at cost if it could be installed during the middle of the summer in the slow time just to keep some cash flow and work for their mechanics. If Joe Schmo were to have walked in there and wanted the same kinda deal they would've been more than pleased to do it. Relative or not, a good dealer/customer relationship is something that helps out everyone. Now at the same time they get more familiar with the kit itself and can better promote it. Truthfully I don't think it's right for dealers to make big profit on the kit plus charge labor on top of that..isn't $60-$80 per hour for installation a good enough profit margin? Truth be known I paid full price on installation. A day and a half worth of work for only 1 guy and they got close to $600 for that. I think that's something that both them and myself can feel very happy about

Put the cat turbo on and give it a try, seen it done and it actually makes a quite a bit more hp

what is the 3 banger Yamaha Motor capable of for horsepower before it blows its cookies compared to the cat tractor motor

I am planning on the cat turbo and doing some drags next year. The install was $650 not $1000 as I posted and even Allen Ulmer takes close to 11 hrs to install the kit. as far as selling stuff for cost and the labor being the profit margin, if a business uses that model it would be out of business in no time.

That's all in how u look at it, a business that overcharges and isn't willing to help out customers won't be in business long either.

Matt from mpi has posted that with the 4th injector and upgraded fuel system they have got 250hp out of a bone stock 1049 yammi engine with no for of lower compression parts, that's running on 110 octane fuel. There are ecu flashes available that you can get 265hp on pump gas, stock vs stock, cats 1100 has more big boost capabilities while still maintaining the use of pump gas.

Well thats a loaded question there are drag sleds with the 3 holer way over 400 hp but a stock motor without head shim or low compression pistons can only go to 7lbs of boost (ask me how I know that) it runs out of fuel with the stock pump and the timing is a problem for anything #'s over that. You can do short pulls on a dyno but on the trail WOT for a mile and bad things happen. I do not know what the CAT can do. The reflash will get you 240ish power and I am sure with more mods you can push it even further.

Yes the Cat motor was designed for boost from the beginning and is not a 11.5:1 compression. And yes they have done that but who trail rides anywhere you can get 110 octane. In the UP up north only stuff available is 87.
They also have blown up several sleds riding demos out west with just the 190 kit when 87 was put in the tank by mistake. I am built to run 91 on 9#'s and 95 on 12#'s which is easy to just carry a couple of gallons of 104 race gas and blend. As long as I fill up with 91 at the bottom of the UP (Ironwood) I only have to worry about buying fuel one time before getting to Houghton/Hancock where I can get 91 again.
