The ones in the front are hollow. You will ruin the cover. And since you never know where you will hit, grinding the back ones off may not help.

Point taken, I seen your pics in the post "engine killer". I still think it's a bit ridiculous to expose the oilpan to a much larger area for a stump to do damage just for the sake of providing a self supporting engine stand. Thanks for all the input & pics guys.

Quicksilver, I agree. I sent as pleasantly worded letters as I could to Cyprus Grove and to Yamaha's headquarters in Japan. Point taken that an accident caused this, but it is just plain unnecessary, and my thought was once a customer brings up a valid point, something should be done about it. It was not that hard a hit, but with the weight, you are not going to bounce off things like on an MXZ or an(sorry, can't say the 'f' word :D )
And there is a coolant hose down there also, so even if these legs were not on the sleds, a really good landing on a rock in that area will certainly smash that pan. Where on a typical 2 stroke, you would just lift the engine, as (usually) there is a heavy motor mount plate below the engine, so it's not apples to apples. These need substantial protection down there, imo.
And I really like the sleds, but do not want to see someone else suffer this, so spread the word. Also, there is no warning your oil is leaking out. Apparently the crank is pressurized from the oil in the sump, so the engine will lock up before any lights or warnings are issued. Big cloud of smoke too. 8)

Sumpbuster, thanks for the information. Do you have any fixes that will help protect the sled before you hit something?

Boston...check out the posts 'Engine Killer' and "Cheap insurance (but not the kind you think)'..they both have pictures, and the cheap ins. one has a pic of the 3/16 steel plate I put on the bottoms of both my RX's . If you need any additional info, send me a pm. For the lesson I learned the hard way, I could have afforded many more mods this year...even 'most' of a turbo kit.. :(
