I have a 2007 Attak GT. I just turned 10,000 miles on the sled and had been trouble free. It has a Yamaheater installed.
I had an issue this weekend - Yellow warning light was flashing and Self Diagnostic (Engine) icon was showing. Unfortunately this is the first time I have seen this and I did not catch if it was sending a code. I shut the machine down, re-started and drove the machine. When I would re-start, the flashing light and icon would turn off. It would come on again after I rode for a couple of minutes. I would then turn off the key and re-start again and it would go away temporarily. I also noticed the Yamaheater LED light was changing to red and the Yamaheater was going into full power mode whenever this happened (I did not have it in this mode while riding). I was not able to adjust the hand warmers/Yamaheater whenever this occurred and the sled was in warning mode. I was able to make hand warmer adjustments after re-starting the sled (as the light returned to green to its proper setting).
This cycle occurred 4 times and then it stopped happening altogether.
Has anybody seen a similar issue? Any thoughts as to what might be occurring?
Any help is appreciated.

your rpm's are dropping off, computer turns off your grips due to stator output and yanaheater goes into full heat mode for onr.
sounds like your tps is starting to act up, but try to see if a code is flashing, it can be something as simple as ice build up in your throttle pivot, also chech your speedo bearing, if bad it'll cause symptoms similar to what your describing

I beleive that the Yamaheater should only go into full heat mode when the grips are set at the lowest setting and the Yamaheater switch is turned on - correct? When this was happening I had the Yamaheater turned on however, the grips were not set on the lowest setting.
I would be surprised if it was ice on the throttle pivot but I will need to check this. Speedo bearing is a possibility - I did inspect and grease at the beginning of the season but could be failing as these things seem to go bad quickly.

You may have a wire that rub its coated off and is hit something.

If your computer killed power to the grips like he said it would turn on the Yami heater. It will shut the grips off if the rpms drop.
