This might be a little different than you think, but I need some help convincing my mother to get a Warrior. I pretty much have her talked into one, but she is concerned about the deep snow application. She likes the speed and does about 80% trail riding. The only problem is the other 20% is semi-deep powder riding. Will this 136" track do the trick. I think it will. Please, anyone that has taken this monster in any type of powder, post your results here, and I will forward to the mother of speed.

One other idea was to put a 1-1/2 inch track on to help in the pow.

Thanks in advance,

J.

LMFAO sorry man just trying to picture my mom riding an RX1  She won't even drive on the highway cuz the cars go to fast  Your lucky to have a mom that wants to ride thats cool 8) As for the shorty in the deep powder (more than a foot) I was'nt impressed with the stock track it just bury's itself in a hurry. As long as she maintains some speed she'll be fine but DONT slow down. Maybe a track with a little more bite to it would be better. BTW my mom is almost 70 so i guess i should'nt pick on her :)

I don't have the 04 warrior, but a modified 03 warrior. I took her off course the other day to see how the mods helped it.

My findings were that the 1.25 paddle gets much better push through the powder, but this powder was probably only about 18". Also, my precision skis turn much better with much less nose dive than before.

Sorry.....there wasn't the real deep stuff to test in, hopefully soon!

IMHO I think it would be too much weight for a lady in the powder. Trails would be fine, but powder is a different animal requiring the rider to throw there weight around more.

In the powder this thing is nose heavy, not a good choice. groomed trails goes awesome. My wifes warrior rides like a cadillac but when you get in 12 inches or more of snow the front is very hard to get up and i have simmonc on it.

We still don't have that much snow out here, about 14". Not western powder either.

The Warrior floats better and has much better traction than my old 98 VMAX 700. Also seems better than the '02 MXZ I rode in Yellowstone a few years ago. Couldn't tell you how it would go in deep powder though.

But, still a fairly big sled for somebody small (not sure how strong your mother is). I'd look at the Renegade Doo for something that is more off-trail capable: that's in the REV chassis this year. Or, if you are Yammie orientated, the Mountain Max and others seem to have good trail manners.

Well I can tell you that my Warrior is much better in the deep stuff than my 700 V Max Deluxe. :D I tried it last week in as much as 24" of powder and it does pretty good. 8)
But I did get it stuck in a 30" drift (did'nt see it coming) And then I found out how heavy this sled is! If you don't have some pretty good strength and you get this thing stuck and your by yourself, guess what?

Black,

I have an RX shorty and ride 'UP' trails about 90%. I wish I had an opportunity to order a Warrior as it rides A LOT nicer. I have found the times I rode in the moderately deep stuff with the RX1 you have to adjust your technique a little AND stay on the gas. I'm not a mountain rider but appreciate the tips on deep snow riding I got from a few members, THANKS ALL 8)

I think your mom would do OK with a warrior as long as she has you around to dig her out if she gets stuck  Curious, what sled does she think she need?

Thanks for all the responses. I think my mom could definitely throw this around better that some of you, Welterracer, think. She is definitely NOT a girl. She currently rides a 600 triple mountain max with a 144" track. She likes it a lot, but would like a little more power. After riding my mountain RX-1, she fell in love. She just does not want a 151". If they made a 144" RX-1, she would be all over it. I keep telling her the 136" would be great for her but she is still a little worried. Anyone else who has done any moderate powder riding with the worrior, please keep the info coming.

Thanks,

J.

Not saying it's a man's only sled, but it is heavy to muscle around.

Once I'm actually going it's fine. In fact, a stock '03 RX1 feels as light(er..) as my old 98 VMAX 700XTC Deluxe.

The Warrior so far seems to push the skis and be a bit heavier to steer than the '03 RX1 I tried, but it's not dialled in yet.

All the reviews are saying that it's the best 4-stroke trail sled, but not really a great powder machine. It's way better in ungroomed snow than my old 700 with the 122" .85 lugs though...

The comparative reviews are rating the Polaris 'tweener (SKS replacement, I don't really follow Poo news) as the best in powder, with the Renegade just about as good, but nicer on the trail.
The AC Firecat EXT was rated somewhere between the Warrior and the others. More of a trail sled.

I bought the Warrior as a trail sled. If I was going to do a lot of off-trail, I'd probably get the Mountain or the Renegade.
