Anybody else have water in chaincase issue , had seal replaced 200mi ago but can see water is returning , wifes sled only trail riding , could it be a venting issue ?

thanks

Same problem here. Went to check the chaincase fluid and it looked like chocolate milk. Tore everything apart and nothing really stood out. I'm not a huge fan of the venting system. Which is basically a zig-zaging gap in the seal at the upper front of the case, you put a dab of grease in the groove and that's it. Mmm seems a little weak to me. I'm trying something different this year and we'll see how it goes. My guess is that moisture from snow is entering the case through the current vent hole. This is based on no real analysis other than looking the sled over and not finding anything that jumps out. Also keep in mind that the rev. is one of a kind, so not much really known there.

My chain oil looks like sludge every time I check it. I change my chaincase oil every 1000 miles. It dosnt leak, so I assume water cant get in through the seals.

Moisture must be getting in through the vent, I have never seen this broblem before and I have owned 15 Yamaha sleds dating back to 1980.

glad it not just me , please keep us informed if anyone has a solution

Mine had it everytime I look also.If I remember right isnt the bearing seal arrangement different than others?

i had the same issue, the dealer told me it was a bad seal, was it????????

mine does not lose oil the level is always the same , does not look like it goes up or down so I cant see the seal as the issue
