Wierd thing today.I got code 85.Short or open to oil pressure switch.I could not get rid of it even by disconnecting battery. Was kinda worried it would ruin my day.Checked oil and oil flow and everything was fine.Decided to continue riding and about 1/2 hr later the code went away for the rest of the day.Pulled in the yard 240 mi later and it came back.Going to have to find issue.

Could be the wiring. Someone else had a broken vacuum sensor wire giving errors. Check to see if the sensor itself is working properly when the motor is running or not (open/closed). From what I can tell in the schematics, I think it's normally open and closes with pressure.

Good idea.I may just order one right away tomorrow unless it a in stock part.I bet its a wire though.Am getting up there in mi and probably should pull entire harness and look for issues.Might as well change oil filter while in there.

I can take a look in the manual when I get home but you should be able to find (when there is a code) a short or no continutity either in the sensor itself or wires. I should be able to find the colours for ya.

Check to see if there is an open circuit between the oil pressure coupler and the plug for the ECU.

Yellow/Green wire at both ends.

To check the oil pressure switch itself: With the engine stopped, check that there is continuity
between the oil pressure switch terminals
and oil pressure switch body metal components.

Thanks for info Yamahas. Now the code is gone.Never did a thing just let it thaw out today.Intermittent Electrical= :o|

Intermittent electrical problems are the worst.

Yes, they are the worst. But, because it's gone for now doesn't mean it won't be back. There was probably water causing a short. I would still check the wiring, or at the very least, spray some WD40 or other water repelling product on the wiring to prevent it from coming back. I'd fix it just to not get stranded again.

I am digging in right now.First time removing plastic, headlight and all the stuff in 3 years.Looked at oil and it still looks like new so dont want to remove front end plus more wiring is accessible doing it the hard way.

Old switch 182ohms. New switch 2.2ohms old pressure switch is junk.Yea!Only wire I found chaffed is headlight wire was rubbing on one of the sensors on airbox. All is good.Confident problem is found.Just need a 24mm or 15/16in deepwell socket to get the bugger out. Thanks Guys!
