When i first rode my GT The sled was bottoming out real bad.I tighen the spring up to 10 3/8 and when i sit on it it when to 8 1/8.I went tiding and it still bottom out and started bucking bad.
I bought the heavy spring from yamaha and installed it.I step the spring at 10 1/2 and when I sit on it it's at 9 1/4 so now it is in spec. Now I'll have to wait for the snow to ee how bad it bucks.
Next I'll have to work on the darting problem.

Did you adjust your rebound dampening? I did and it made the world of difference, I amd 250# with gear and spring is on stock setting. BTW I did have bottoming before this.

Did you install at home? Dealer has told me his "tool" to remove old one is on backorder and I am sick of bottoming out.

Do it at home. It's so easy.Back the sting off and it will give you about 3/4 of an inch free play with the spring take the clip out that holds the spring.Take the to bolts out of the shock and remove it.change spring then reinstall shock.Don't install the spring clip till the shock is in.That's the trick.
Took me about 15 min to change it.
Oh the sled has to be off the ground.
It's very easy to do by yourself.

I turned mine out 5 turns after the spring install. You have to get your shock in spec before changing rebound dampening.
You need 1 3/4 inch from picking sled off the ground to sitting on it.If you and much more you need the new spring first.
