What actually works the best for the wet left boot? I have read the discussion on this topic but it hasn't been talked about on there since 09. I have a 08. Do I do the bolt, foam tape mod or does the aluminum bracket from Yamaha work just as well? I haven't even ridden the sled yet but don't want to have a wet foot. I would rather fix it now for added insurance. :sled1:

The aluminum bracket yamaha put on the 09 and newer nytros solves the problem and will fit on your 08. If you bought the sled used make sure it doesn't already have one as alot of people updated their 08s.

I have an 09 and a WET left foot. Water resistant boots do not work.. I duct taped from the inside the gaps along the bumper etc, and found the rubber boot around the rod was not on properly. That helped a little. Also installed a Mountaintech vent, not sure yet about the results of that as far as soggy sock goes. kenOla has a good suggestion, and am ready to go that way. For me, the expensive water proof boots dont seem high enough. Is this aluminum piece the one that runs along under the belt? I had a belt detonate on me and wrinkled it up so maybe thats my problem? Not sure how that would solve it but maybe it does.

I had the plate on my 09, and still had water/ice all over my left foot, so I don't believe that it actually worked much. When my belt blew last year, that was the end of the plate, so I installed a schmidt bros belt guard to prevent that plate from getting so mangled again, and hopefully block the snow coming through to my foot a bit better.

Haven't had a chance to get out and ride yet, so this is just theory and marketing at this point.

Schmidt Bros sport has some sort of brace to eliminate the left foot problem. Installed mine and never had wet boots.

i put this on last year di the job well. I was afraid of ruining my clutches if a belt let go with that little plate....
I put that Schmidt bros clutch guard in and that really does work and saves the belly too . I blow a belt and it took out footwell , plate and lower belly pan , that plate that yamaha put in did help alittle , I took it out and was getting very wet like my whole leg , boot everything put it back in and just my boot got alittle wet , but that guard helped a lot plus save the bottom

Thanks for the input! I called Schmidt Bros. to order a plate from them but had to leave a message. I will be ordering one as soon as he calls me back.
