Riding last week in-5 degree, froze mine and my better half's hands, must get 2 sets of hand wind deflectors ASAP. Which ones work the best and how much $$$ and where to get them.
Thanks Ty :4STroke:

I bought the stock yamaha ones. Ordered off the RTX partnumbers, guards were like $8 each for the plastics, but the brackets were something like $30 each (I think...) However, I end up getting a pretty decent price cut on some things.

I really like the look of the stock ones.

I've heard nothing but good about these deflectors called "Dumbo Ears" or "Elephant Ears" and they can be found at: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/acces ... etail.aspx

I haven't used them but I've seen them and I will be getting a pair for cold days. It sounds and looked like they were super easy to install and would be the best for the "better half's". Do a search for "Gauntlets" or look for "Gauntlets" under Nytro general. Some pretty good info on this topic. Good luck....

I have the stock ones! Go to the stock parts look under nytro mtx-control cable. They are listed with the stock handwarmers.

Brush guard-8GL-26142-00-00, $10.89ea.
Bracket-8GL-2612m-00-00, $19.52ea.

you will also need screws, top bracket.
when you roll it over once you will bend the brackets as I have done (second pair). I bought two spare! Hope this helps.

As said,
I like the stock Yammy ones:

powermadd mounts, acerbis flag guards. look great, cost effective and suit my needs. ski

Handguards

I also have the Yamaha's handguards. The same that comes on the XTX. I've tried the Powermad before and didn't like them. To close from the brake lever. Would have to modifie the bracket on left side. Yamaha's are also bigger and gives more wind protection. Bracket are nice and easy to install compare to Powermad's...

I have the Dumbo ears...I can't speak for the mountain guys, but for us flatlanders....they are exremely functional. I went from having to stop every 10 minutes to warm up my hands on the exhuast, to not having to stop at all.

You know what part numbers are the white plastic pieces? I had my local parts guy try and look them up... he was of no help...

Thanks and sled looks great!

I had the powermadd... they suck! Worthless and the mounting stinks. The yamaha ones that mount to the inside of your controls seems like a much better design.

I have power-madd and have had for 4 seasons. I would get the stock yammies if I were to do it again and get the covers that enlarge the guard for the extremely cold days.

so for white it would be
SMA-8GLHG-KT-WH

It is a complete kit with mounting hardware

Stupid yamaha usa.... couldn't find those anywhere...

Gonna have to see if the part numbers can be used in the US. Thanks much, gonna have to give this another try.. Wouldn't have thought it would have been that difficult in the first place, but that is how I roll...
