Hi everyone. I bought a Boosted Nypex today. My plans are to turn it into snow drag sled. I'll be tearing into her all summer. I hope to have her ready for next winter. Please point me in the right direction in terms of drag parts like stutter buttons and clutching. Yamahas are very new to me. Here are a few pics! Awesome site by the way! Can't wait to learn about these monsters!

Yes, It pulls like crazy. Built for the mountains though. I need to figure out all the details of the sled over the next month. I'll post pics as I go along.

You can use a MSD launch master for the stutter control. I happen to have one plug and play for sale from my apex with a impulse turbo. :) What is the current engine management? I happen to also have a Motec M400 and all accessories for sale. If your racing this will dial it in like a swiss watch. Sweet sled!
 
Got the body panels off to start digging in. Went for a couple short rides today. Running C12. I never held open long but I seen the boost gauge hit 20lbs+? I really don't want to screw things up so I will be taking my time. Is it normal for a 4 stroke to smoke at start? Very little, mind you but is does smoke. Clears up after warm up. It also doesn't want to idle properly so I'll have to address that. Some pics

Thanks Yes I'm interested. I did check into the MSD Launch master. Looks like what I need. Any insight to what your motec can do for me?
 
The motec replaces the stock ECU and that boostit system you currently have (the controller in the pelican box). It would allow you to control those extra injectors and adjust your timing, add traction control (lower boost until a certain speed), knock control to save the motor, etc. Its the cat azz if you will of engine management. Easily worth another 30+hp over your current set up when properly tuned. Its all plug and play! Even your handwarmers will work LOL.

Nice! Does my current system have knock control? I am lost when it comes to this type of sled. I am a journeyman mechanic, but this type of tuning and sled is a whole new learning curve. Thanks kinger!
 
No not on the factory system there is no knock control. The motec adds this and then you can tune it to cut boost, its amazing. The tuning of it requires a laptop but its really a nice interface. If I hadn't crashed my apex I would have installed it. This sled is sick! Lots of cash and time invested, you will be happy! At 20 psi hold on!!!!!!!

The smoke is not normal on a 4 stroke but it is on the impulse kit, the drain line is just a tad to small. Mine did it and I bought a new CHRA thinking the turbo was bad but I later learned it was the drain size. -6AN is what is on the kit and should be a -10AN. When your cold your oil is 0W and runs past the turbo seals as the drain can't keep up as it warms up it thickens up and the drain can now keep up and the smoking stops.

That makes sense. There is supposed to be newer cartridge installed in this turbo also. Seems that the compressor housing was painted?
 
The Turbo intercooler is plumbed into the cooler in front of the drivers. Has it own little water pump. I'll be looking to get rid of the track and try to find something lighter. I need a manual for the Boost-it XIC, I have no idea how it works and no manuals to be found searching online.
