GT - It also means its a soft seat and if he is tall he may want a firmer mountain seat. I thought cush on my bottom would be great but the MTX seat helps me from sinking in and really is more comfortable. If he is less than 5'9" or a mild rider the cushy may be fine, if your taller and aggressive and like to sit/stand/sit a lot the MTX is a must in my book.

2007 Attak GT. I have one. The GT was used for the models that had the electronically controlled Ohlins shock. The LTX was used when they dropped the Attak name and made the 136" sleds the Apex LTX. I believe it was the next model year 2008 Apex LTX. That Ohlins shock has been a money pit to me - not a fan but many others are.

Take a look at the rear suspension wheels. I bought my 2008 LTX with 4400 miles on the clock and ended up replacing all the idlers because the bearings were shot. I replaced the bearings in the rear axle and top suspension wheels too. All wheels have replaceable bearings now.

Bearings on the left side. Drive shaft and secondary clutch. If still decent these should be greased.
Check the rails for cracks where the rear pivot arm bolts through.
Actually you might as well give both the pivot arms a good look over. They are known for cracking as well.
Another thing to check that is synonymous with the 136" is cracks in the heat exchangers that run under the running boards. They crack where the tunnel is seamed together near the back of the running board. You will likely see a discoloration from the coolant tarnishing the aluminum before you actually see a crack
