what drivers needed for 1.75 backcountry track

im glad this came up. i am extending my 09 rtx se to 144" oft. i am thinking i would like the backcountry track as well. will i need to upgrade drivers, gearing or clutching?

I would seriously think about upgrading to Anti ratchet drivers.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to gear down either...not sure about clutching tho.
 
how many tooth are the factory ones? also im gonna keep my mtx gearing which should be close to going to 8tooth drivers

I agree. Extro drivers would help and I would drop at least one tooth on top. I dropped 2 when I went to 136x1.75.

Clutching you can wait and see how she runs.

I think the only reason you wouldn't want to switch to 8 tooth is because on the RTX you already have a steep approach angle, dropping to 8 tooth would only make it steeper. Not sure how much it would actually matter.

I think if I had to do it all over again, I would have went with 8 tooth instead of 9. I don't do much top speed running anyways.

I thought dropping from 9 to 8 tooth was the equivalent of dropping almost 2 gears in the chaincase. Which is another reason I wanted to do it, a 2 gear drop is about right for a RTX. They only go about 100 mph either way.
 
Yes changing track drivers from 9 to 8 tooth is equal to lowering gearing by 2 teeth on top gear and steeper approach angle on track. Going from 8 to 9 tooth is equal to raising gearing by 2 teeth on top gear and lowering approach angle on track.
 
I've got an 08 FX that I'm extending to a 144 with a 2" paddle. From reading around I should just go ahead and order 8 tooth extro's..? Oh and 2.52's with what sized shaft?

Anything else to prepare for before I dig in?
 
I put 8 tooth extro's on my xtx with a backcountry and i dont regret it, gets you some more bottom end and didnt lose a whole lot on the top. gained a little room by the heat exchanger too!

If you order Avid extrovert drivers just call them up, they'll know all the info/specs once you tell them which sled you have.

I think going to 8 tooth is the way to go.
 
so youre suggesting go with 8 tooth extros and leave gearing alone?? keeping in mind i have an rtx which i am going to extend to 144

Thats what I would do if I had to do it all over again. I would have went with 8 tooth extros. And in the process, you'll have dropped about 2 teeth in the chaincase. Which should be about perfect for your 144" big lug track.
 
so any pros cons to running 8t vs 9 t remember im running my mountain gearing so i dont need to gear down

I use 9 tooth Ski-doo extros on my 180 MCX Nytro with a 144" backcountry track. They are 2.52 and fits right on the shaft. 3000 kms on them so far, and still looks as new.. Don't know the price compared to avids.. But i went with the doo extros since my dealer had them in stock.

I ran my sled with the 144" backcountry 3000 kms without extros, and had no issues with ratcheting at all.. when i got the turbo.. well thats another story..
