ok so i bought my sled in october and it wasnt started for almost 2 years and i put in fresh gas, new battery, new plugs and it starts and idles great takes off good then it just studders and almost sounds like a rev limiter at around 6k rpms and the most i can get out of it is like 7-7.5k rpms. i had changed my throttle cable and it seemed to be a bit tight so i bypassed the tors(just to see if that would fix it) and that didnt do anything. what else should i look for would cleaning the carbs fix this? does it should like there could be jets plugged? would just adding in some kind of fuel additive clean the system? thanks for any help guys :rocks:

Check for MICE nest in your EXHAUST I had a bud with all kinds of simular symptoms and ended up being damn MICE!!! in the tailpipe sort of speaking, but in your case I suspect BAD!!! gas...

Clean your carbs real GOOD! pull out the hole carb RACK and take them all apart, the pilot jets are extremly small on these and doesn't take much to plug'm! you probably have a LOT of junk in your tank! pull the gas tank off and empty out your gas, rinse it with fresh gas and flush it out a second time if need to a 3rd till its nice and clean, also check the 2 filters on the end of the pickups in the bottom of the tank cuz a sled thats been sitting for 2 years that gas is POISION to your sled, its like a VIRUS you must purge it out and once you've done all of the above re-sync your carbs, change SPARK PLUGS and clean your COILS and use a bit of DIELECTIC grease on rubber boots to prevent arcing, add some SEAFOAM engine treatment in you gas and she should be puring like a C*T no I meant a YAM! LOL.

hey thanks for your suggestions im going to try and clean the carbs tomarrow and see if that is the problem I already drained the tank and added fresh fuel. i sure hope this fixes the problem

what has to be done to pull the carb rack? i read the cleaning carbs 101 but didnt see directions for that the rest seems pretty straight forward

Remove the airbox. Loosen the boot clamps; remove choke and throttle cable, unplug TORS and it should pop out. You may want to change the bowl screws once you get them out. They have a tendacy to strip the phillips heads. Allen heads seem to be better.

thanks guys i cleaned the carbs all 4 pilots were plugged and the bowls were green with alge(sp?) aswell as the main jets they were all green and nasty kinda looked like a pool when you open them in the spring lol the tank has some fresh fuel and seafoam and shes running great now finally going over 8k rpms :D I DONT miss my ski-doo yet....
