Am I crazy? I recall quite a few people on here when the Nytro xtx came out, bitching/wishing that they made an apex version. Well, it's here, where did you guys go?
I can't wait to try out the 128 apex se. It looks to be the perfect half sled for me. The other half would be if cat shoe horns the 800ho engine into the sno-pro chasis with a 136ish 1.5 cobra track.

Long rides on trail/high speed running.....apex.
everything else......cat.

I feel dirty wishing about a cat. I do at times pull off the blue tinted glasses and take a look around. Please forgive me.

at least you admit to taking them off every once in a while...everyone else is blinded by the blue

I changed from Yamaha to Cat and I must say I have so much more fun.

Dont think that Cat is coming with an 800 in the sno pro chassis... Think that the M and the CF is going to be in the same old chassi... one of the best I must say.

The twin spar chassi is made for trail and works pretty good.

But agree with KatahdinLodge... except for the apex thingy.

wow i cant belive you guys i ride with several cat guys the sleds range from 03 firecat to new f series. they ride mine nytro and love it. i ride the cats and i have rode em all that i ride with and i have to say they are the worst handling things a have ridden and the power seems weak until the revs get up. also i cant stand the loose sloppy feeling of the steering in my opinion its too light. great they are light it makes it easier for me to tow them back to the truck when they blow, the count for downed cats behind my sled is now at 2 panthers, 1 370, and a fire cat. man i am glad they are light.

What do you consider handling to be? I couldn't ever get my xtx demo to take a corner how I would like it to. It certainly wasn't for lack of trying, even tried different skis. I love the Nytro motor, but the corners suck. I am not really a fan of the new f-series sleds, but they do ride good and corner pretty flat. I can make apexes rail corners, but nytros, not so much. Your buddies must have the worst handling cats, or your nytro has been touched by the cornering gods, or a combo of both.

If a nytro would take corners like a well set up apex, I would be happy with that. Until then, I will continue to explore other options.

I ride with lots of former Yamaha people, one or two is left with the blue hairs and about the towing. That is bs, none of us has had it towed and they work pretty well except blowing belts at times. The Yamahas does not really work that well in snow. A cf8 is really killing a mtx nytro in powder. The nytro mtx is not performing well in powder, not well at all.

And yes the cf8 is sloppy on the trail but nothing like a nytro mtx, that one is dangerous. About the engine, the 8 is weak... come on!

Just wondering if you ride a cat, why are you wasteing your time here?? I mean Im a member at dootalk but I havn't been on there since I sold my last doo. Im a member at bansheehq.com but havn't been on there in about 5 years since I sold my last banshee, Im a moderator at everything2stroke.com but have not been on there since I got rid of my last 2 stroke sled (accept my wifes 700)... why would you bother coming on here if you ride a cat???

I love my apex, Ive owned them all, cats, doos, and lots and lots of poos. They all have good aspects but I like the longevity and reliability of the yamaha 4 stroke motors. I can throw my apex around just as easy as my wifes xc 700 and love it... I might switch to a skippy doo or a cat sometime in the future, but if I do I will never waste my time on a yamaha site again......

I don't believe I recall seeing in the board rules you had to be a current Yamaha owner to sign up, read or post in this forum, besides he was a past yamaha rider. I am a yamaha rider and frequent other brand forums. There was no bash from him, he is just saying that cat fits his riding style better, no crime in that is there?

If and when I jump ship I will still "waste" my time on this board just to see what's going on with yamaha and what I am missing...good or bad. I am a snowmobiler, enjoy reading and learning about snowmobiles, be that my current brand or not.

Never said it was a rule. And there was no bash from me either, just a question. Anyone is welcome to the site, in fact Im not sure I've ever read all the rules. I am just saying you would need to have alot of extra time on your hands to bother "learning" about sleds you don't own. I still own an xc 700 but I don't "waste" any of my time reading the "xc" forums..

If I go to doo talk and start talking about how much better my apex "fits my style" Im sure to fire up a bunch of doo riders.. thats all Im saying.. I really don't care, I might ride a doo or a cat in the future.. My bloods not blue. Im a life long snowmobiler myself, I have subscribed to all the snowmobile magazines I could since I was 8 and I really enjoy learning about them too but like I said before, If I don't ride or own a yamaha, Im not gunna WASTE my time on a yamaha site, If I wanted to learn about ALL the brands Id go to HCS or something like that... thats all..

I own an old Yamaha to. And yes I would like a reliable four stroke from Yamaha which is not only reliable it must be fun to. What I need is an XTX with better boogie geometry, lighter weight, better balance and so on. So I look at Yamaha today and see to my disappointment that their only goal is trail. I would really like a 120+ hp Phazer, that would be nice. So this year Yamaha has nothing to offer me... But I think its a sign when many of my friends start looking at other brands and I hope Yamaha see it that way to.

Dont get me wrong, I still think that the Apex trail performance is good but again it is in no interest of my kind of riding.

never rode a crossfire 8, no point there is no off trail riding here. in fact some people do do it here and that is just risking gettinig those sections of trails closed. i will break trail with my 121 nytro never been stuck hum? maybe people need to learn to drive em better. and now the tally is up one more cat it was an older one a zl440 and it was behind one of our clubs vk's when i was out grooming. the count continues to grow deny it all you want maybe i'll start taking pic's and post for proof that it is not bs. no on scond thought i am done with this thread, people talk about bleeding blue, im just a realist if i see it i believe it. so people just dont want to admit it.

I'm still here love the sled and hope I get to ride it again soon. But I don't have 15000.00 bucks to buy one the wife told me thats over the line so I will have to get one used or leftover.
