What is a good track.....

I think the ripsaw might be an excellent track, and here's why. Look at the rectangular and square knobs..the gap between most of them runs at an angle. This means the snow is going to have to change direction to get through, in effect, acting like a paddle. While also having characteristics of a finger track. If it works, give that engineer a pat on the back. But the fact is, the angle cuts will at least slow the snow down from getting through. Nothing like the finger track at all, imo.

You got that right, srx...it looks like the track was a long time punch press operator...got some fingers full length, and a bunch a stubbies...
I did find a good use for it..if you're careful, and keep it straight, doing burnouts on the garage floor makes nice straight black lines that can be used for ski alignment..

i just want to know were he hurd yamaha is going to change our tracks

Last year my track stretched so badly that I have cord showing across the track between each grouser (set of lingers)...it also through off at least a dozen of its clips…I had one of the Yamaha test guys look at it and he said that I should diffidently see a replacement under warranty. My dealer is warranting the thing….now someone please tell me what track I should put on…I rode a 2003 Polaris 800 last year that hooked up like crazy…Anyone know what would have been under it??? All I know is it was a 1.25 profile…If someone can tell me how to upload a pic on here these days I would gladly show you all my finger track after only 1600 miles …Thanks again…

You really have two options.

Tried and true 9818/9833 - same track, 9833 is fully clipped. Pulls like hell in ANY conditions.

Ripsaw - new model this year, *looks* delicate, clipped every third. Performance is likely no better than 9818/9833, possibly worse in deep due to serrated edge.

I agree LB the new Ripsaw "looks" cool but again I CANNOT see that track outperforming my 9833 in deep snow. The 9833 is light, fully clipped (I highly reccomend extroverts if you can) and hooks like crazy in all conditions. If you do not want to go the extrovert route do as LB suggests and put the 9818 on. The paddle design (in my opinion) seems much more efficient than the Ripsaw for any depth of snow. The Ripsaw will be a great hard packed performer but I don't think it will be that great in any depth.

My old 03 track is going on my wife Vmax 500 should be good for her.
I am putting a new ripsaw. I hope it is very much better. There is an ZR 800 out there that I want to surprise this year

I ran a 9833 all last season with 144 1.325" 8) Woodys mega bites down the center. No real problems very slight scratches in the tin foil covering the exhaust, removed the exhaust tin the studs have not put a single mark on the pipes. As LB said this track pulls like crazy. I will be selling mine once I remove it, as I am installing a 136" this season.
