What is the weight diff of the RX1 and the Vector?

RX-1 570 ??? Even with the 30 pound savings, I would be amazed if it comes in that light. Wet it is about 700. This years that is.

They should be very close to the same weight if 05 RX has lost 30 pounds and Vector is indeed close to viper er.

plr500,

My 03 RX-1 LE is WAY heavier than my 02 Viper ER :? A LOT more than the 30 lbs. So don't assume they'd even be close. More like 50 lbs. difference ....... still.

Personally, I don't find the RX-1 weight that obnoxious. Just don't go boondocking where you have to lift the critter

Looking at the online manual.....

2004 rx1 reverse......560lbs, dry so subtract 30lbs for the 05 and you are at 530 dry. Add fuel and you get 590 with gas.

If the 04 SXViper Er is 529 dry and the Vector is SUPPOSED to be the same as the Viper ER WET, which is around 602.

The Vector should weigh in at around.......600 wet. That is the weight of the Viper ER . That makes the Vector 540 dry using 6 lbs per gallon and a 10 gallon tank.

So then the RX1 would be lighter??? According to my rationalization and use of Yamaha's info!!

Am I close?

Notice Yamaha never says what year they are comparing too. It could be the Vector is 30 lbs lighter than an 04 RX1 :?: I remember when they were first advertising the 03 RX1 their claim back then was that it was only 5lbs heavier than the Viper probably wet due to the 2.5 gallon diff in the gas tank. I have a feeling that the new RX1 with the new light weight skid and other lightweight parts is very close to the same as the vector and the Viper I'll bet there's not 20lbs between the three on the 05 models. I'll have an 03 and an 05 RX1 soon :D now all i gotta do is go find a real big bathroom scale so i can compare the two:lol:

QCR,

First off I'm not just trying to argue.........trying to keep things as accurate as possible. Have you ever put a Viper ER and an RX-1 side-by-side and tried to lift both, one at a time? Try that and then come back and tell me the RX-1 is only 40 or so lbs. heavier.

I have (and I can) because I own both. The 03 RX-1 is AT LEAST 80 lbs. heavier than the 02 Viper. I can lift the nose of the Viper but haven't got a chance with the RX-1. Oh, and by the way, the Viper with fuel and everything is really close to 550 to 560 lbs.

Well, thank you for agreeing with me. Since the '04 RX-1 is at least 5 pounds less than the '03 and the '05 is another 30 pounds less than the '04, that would put the '05 at 45 pounds more than the Viper by YOUR numbers.

Hmmmmmm.......didn't know you were online....

Anyway, I'm puzzled by the math. Let's assume my numbers are close and Viper ER weighs 555 (going right in the middle of the range). Add 80 lbs. to that and you get 635 (although if I had to bet my own $$$ on it I'd wager the difference is more like 100) .

Moving right along, take this assumed 635 minus 5 for the 04 and minus 30 for the 05 still leaves 600 by my calculations.

O.K., I'm done arguing over a measly 20 lbs. Anybody that's going to ride one better be able to move it , if necessary, anyway, eh?

You guys that think this sled weighs under 600 are dreaming.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I put my rx1 mtn on a pallet and weighed it on a scale that was designed for weighing pallets of concrete block and it came to 715#. This is full of all liquids , tool box in it ,a plastic shovel , and also has reverse. It was a certified scale so I assume that it's pretty accurate. According to Yamaha this sled is 589# dry plus 6# for reverse, which puts the liquids at roughly 115#. Lets see , 10 gal. gas(63#) 1.5 gal. antifreeze(12#) 4 qts oil(8#)chaincase and shock oil(maybe 1 qt. 2#), seems to add up to about 30# heavier than Yammi's numbers. Ken

Not that I think it is an issue. The only time it is for me is in a 660' race. It is hard to beat a sled that weighs 200 pounds less in that distance.
