AMSNOW weighted the 03 rx-1 and it came in at 608lbs..
In 04 they had lighter exhaust..5lbs.. So it would weight 605lbs
If the 05 are 30lbs lighter you do the math..

Yes yes I've heard of "leverage". Problem is you are still lifting the heaviest part of the sled. If it weighed 700 pounds as opposed to a rev supposedly weighing 470 pounds. I've lifted the front end of a rev several times and while being noticably less you wouldnt say there was that much difference between the two.
I tend to believe more the amsnow weight.
If you note from the posts both sleds were weighed on sclaes and came in at or near the 700 pounds. Have you heard of leverage? That is why you can lift the fron of your sled. Try lifting the whole thing from the middle. That you probably can't do

buddah2,
the reason the viper feels lighter is because more on the motor is ahead of the skis compared 2 the rx1 with it tipped behide the skis a bit

Thats why we call it the 1 ton
well over 700lb is the Most realistick estimate I have seen wet Even with a lot of Fancy parts I dont expect this sled to ever be under 600 ilbs and have enough fuel to go anywhere.
That is why most of them now run turbos out here.
regardless The 2005 Vector felt a little more nimble to handle than the rx1 2005 and the 2005 RX 1 felt MUCH nicer than my 2003 stock to Handle.
If it was me starting over I would probably turbo a new vector unless I already had an RX1 (which I do) so I will probably Turbo it and add the CBS tunnel
out west in the mountains The mountain RX1 stock I got over 700 LBS in the back of my truck not full of gas but still had some fuelBuckeye said:You guys that think this sled weighs under 600 are dreaming.

I put my rx1 mtn on a pallet and weighed it on a scale that was designed for weighing pallets of concrete block and it came to 715#. This is full of all liquids , tool box in it ,a plastic shovel , and also has reverse. It was a certified scale so I assume that it's pretty accurate. According to Yamaha this sled is 589# dry plus 6# for reverse, which puts the liquids at roughly 115#. Lets see , 10 gal. gas(63#) 1.5 gal. antifreeze(12#) 4 qts oil(8#)chaincase and shock oil(maybe 1 qt. 2#), seems to add up to about 30# heavier than Yammi's numbers. Ken

We weighed our 2003 rx1 dry at 609 pounds! This was right when we got it. As said somewhere else, depending on the temperature, gas is about 6.5 pounds per gallon. do the math of the entire weight, it is right around 700 pounds.
All i know is that picking up the #*$&@ end of my 05 is a whole lot easier than the 03 I've done it many times
I've got to believe that the 05 is just about the same weight as the viper heck the 03 was supposed to be fairly close as advertised back then. I've actually done this with both sleds side by side to prove it to myself

In 'Asphalt Race' format on a NHRA scale the weight of my Warrior w/CPR Turbo, 136" Wahl Skid, and 10.5" asphalt track the sled weighed 630lbs. This is a full body sled/trail sled. I always kept between 2" and 2-1/4" of fuel in it (about 2gal). I know the turbo add's about 5~7lbs to the sled over stock form.
Hope this helps...

The Genesis 120 is'nt suppose to weight 22 pound less than Rx-1 motor. this info came from Snowtech Mag.
And just for the feel of the weight,i'm unable to lift from rear with one hand my 04 mountain, full of gas. And i lift with almost ease, the 05 with only one hand.
Anyway, my sled is'nt that heavy, the thing that is heavy is to carry all that ice that stuck under the tunnel and on the rear suspension bracket.
You know it's heavy when it's time to pull on a ski to get unstuck. Woah, it's hard on hand. 1 2 3 pull, oh, she did'nt move, better wait for 3 or 4 more buddy to pull with me
1 2 3 pull... Is she move, hummm, not sure, '' did you have the phone number of Quebec Crane, maybe they can take a ride by there ''
It'S so fun to get stuck, that make people closer together, like a real team
Happy Christmas and have a Nice pulling Year

Remember the Monoshock RA Rear Suspension is quite a bit lighter than even the Vector's New Suspension. As soon as they put the Monoshock RA on the Vector (in '06) it will drop another 10 pounds or so. Look for next year's Vector to drop 25 pounds or so by the time it hits the market.

So basically Reverse add 15 pounds? That sounds like something they need to fix. It shouldn't be more than 5.

The RX-1 ER model doesn't recieve the smaller battery, magnesium chaincase cover, and lighter bottom gear.
Srxspec, Thanks for the good info. Nice to get it accurate .
