I just installed the old White knuckle QC-1 exhaust of one of our newly turboed pals. What a son of a b!tch of a job that was! Those round gaskets that go between the headers and the pipes just didn't want to line up and what should have been a quick job took way longer than I had figured.
Nevertheless, I plan to go in a fix a screw up on my jetting tomorrow. My dealer sent me the new float bowls for my sled with no instructions of course. I couldn't figure out where the larger O ring went. I put it in the right area but after helping Black Sabbath last night I see where they are supposed to be and I had best fix mine now.
I was going to drop my needles a notch to improve my midrage mileage but now I wonder if that makes sense now that I have the QC-1 on?
Maybe I should be raising them instead?
What about main jets?
Are my airscrew still ok at 1 1/4?
If any of you have been involved with rejetting your RX-1 after installing anybody's aftermarket pipe please share your findings with me. There was nothing in the instructions to indicate the jetting should be increased but common sense tells me maybe it should be? Powder Blue

I'm not sure you need to change your jetting with new pipes on a 4 stroke, unless you're flowing a lot more air. Ask Spray, I think he had those pipes on his RX1.

Spray used to run this very pipe I will have to ask him. I think he mentioned he went up one main size but did he really need to?
I'm really curious what the instructions say. I'm not sure if I am missing a page of the instructions or if it just doesn't say anything about it? PB

Hey Powder,
I would agree that you need some minor jetting changes with your new pipe, but since I have not bought or installed a new pipe on my machine yet I have no advice to offer.
That being said, where did you buy your new pipe? What was the fit and finish like? Would you buy another White Knuckle again or some other brand? What made you decide on White Knuckle in the first place? What does it sound like and how loud is it?
Keep us posted on the jetting. Thanks in advance,
Max

I installed the bender racing pipe and did not change the jets at all. I noticed a considerable power differance, awsome sound differance and a tremendous weight savings. My dealer said there is no need to change the jets on a four stroke for just a pipe change unlike the old two strokers. I've road street bikes my whole life and never changed jets when installing a new pipe on them either.

Hey Powder Blue - I know what you mean by the exhaust o-rings, but I made sure that I did not jam the exhaust on when I did my installation. I went underneath the sled with my suspension out, when I put mine in. I have 2 systems from White Knuckle Performance now, (QC1 & GP1), and in both cases, I had no problems whatsoever. I went down to my Yami shop, and bought another set for the QC1 exhaust, so I wouldn't have to pull them out again. Did you install the exhaust, guiding it on to the header pipes? If you didn't, I can see where that would be a b#$%^.
To all - I used the GP1 system all year on the asphalt, and made no jetting changes, but would go to at least 140's for winter. I have 1425's in it now with the QC1 system on it, and sounds great, and plugs are not too brown. Just to be safe with the stock airbox. Sounds like a nice tinny crotchrocket sound, and is trail friendly on the decible reader.

PB,
First, .
Ok, now that we got that out of the way...... Prior to the white knuckle I was running 132.5's. After the white Knuckle I went to 135's. The plugs looked a little light to me at 132.5. I ride 5000-8000 feet. 4 Strokes aren't as critical on jetting, but that pipe flows a lot better than stock. If you are that unsure, go ride it and read your plugs. That is the most definate way to find out.

Thanks for the advice guys. Maverick, I haven't run the sled yet so i don't know much about it just yet. I bought the White Knuckle because I like the sound on the audio clip  The fit and finish is quite nice.
NOSPRO, I tried to put the pipe on with the suspesnion up. After a couple hours I dropped the suspension and finally got it up there. I ended up putting the gaskets on the header pipes and putting a hose clamp in front of them so they wouldn't slide forward and it worked.
Spray, Ok so I want to get the jetting right. I'll watch my plugs. PB

Well I made my first mistake ever. I was actually running 130's before the pipe and 132.5's with the pipe.
Sorry
