as long as you wait for past the breakin period and use wet clutch approved synthetic there is no problems using synthetic.
im using 20w50 amsoil thumper synthetic in my xt350. the bear is still too new for synthetic. i have had no problems with it.

I was using Amsoil but the Grizz was consuming it, always had to add some after every ride! I switched back to Yamalube and I haven't used a drop in over 500 miles. I recently bought some Rotella T 0W-40 Synthetic but haven't put it in yet. A lot of people use it and swear by it plus it is cheaper than most good lubes.......Irv

Ive been using 0w40 synthectic,no consumption in my griz.

In my 600 I used Castrol but in my 660 I just use Yamalube since I learned the clutch is wet in the case. I never had any problems with the 600 but I just want to be safe with this one.

Well I took the 0W-40 Rotella T SB back today, I asked some questions and the Shell expert told me they didn't sell Rotella T SB in 0W-40? I said that was funny I just bought some! I also posted a link off their own website showing that they do. I haven't heard back from the supposed expert since? Another letter Shell had written back in 2004, stated no to use 0W-40 in motor-cycles or ATV's? They said the 5W-40 was good but not the 0W-40 for some reason? Anyways I got tired of waiting and I realy sensed a level of un-professionalism with the expert so I went back to my Yamaha dealer and bought some Yamalube 5W-30 CW(cold weather formula) It says it has extra synthetic anti-wear additives in it so I know it is good oil and specifically meant for atv's/motorcycles with a wet clutch........Irv
