WHAT PILOT JETS ARE YOU GUYS RUNNING?

Still using a stoich meter and it goes off the chart. Then starts popping. If you are brave enough to hold it there it will die.

Went for a several day ride last week and went from number 3 to number 4 on the needles. That seemed to help a little. I did not try number 5 as I hate changing needles in the field and back when I had larger mains and went to #5 it would not run at all.

Spray that popping, does it happen around 7000~7500rpm and does it sound like it's misfiring? If so does your meter indicate a lean condition at that time? Mine kinda missfires at that rpm and it feels like electircal, but is probably a lean condition too. I just had an O2 sensor installed in which now I can see where I’m at in order to adjust, seems I’ve been running a little lean too, at idle and more so midrange. I haven’t had the opportunity to try wot.

It's at about 8000 rpm for me. Yes the meter shows full lean. I could see where you might call it a misfire. WOT is actually very rich cause I'm trying to compensate for the lean spot.

I understand that 11.8-12.2 is the range for wot, but what is the a/f range for curise. Say 55-70 MPH. Thanks

It really is throttle related, super light throttle can be 14.6 -15.0 for fuel mileage and as you go down on the throttle so should your A/F.

So the Throttle should be a linear tape toward 12.0 A/F

You guys are describing my sled to a t. Big time lean bog right when the boost comes on. Someone tell me how to richen the mid without making the top end too fat.

Needles?

Lighter carb springs :D

Do you think that would work? I have cut 3 coils off so far and am not sure it has made a diferrence.

When you cut coils off a spring it actually gets stiffer, get yourself the lightest springs Holtzman makes.

I am running reds because that is what I had last year with my airbox mods.

I've got the yellow ones that I cut about six coils off that I'm going to try. They now open with about half the pressure when you blow into the vent hoses. It would be nice to know how many pounds of pressure are needed to start pullng the slides up with stock springs because if they don't start raising untill 4 or 5 pounds that would mean super lean when running 2 or 3 and no extra fuel because the needles haven't started coming up yet, Ken.

Man i think you guys are on to some thing here! I might get some light ones. I am running the stock right now.

I've got the green springs in now. Hmmmmm I've got the silver springs in my 2005 ecp filtered RX-1. I think I'm going to swap them. Great info guys.

At sea level I have the 130 mains and needles in stock position .The stoich gauge read very rich at idel to 5000 rpm then goes to stoich.Should I drop my needles more and put the sliver carb springs back in?

Idle and light throttle are controled by your pilot jet and fuel screw combo not the needles.
