What skis are you guys running

I don't want to be the one to bring bad news to the plate here BUT....

I put 290 on my Nytro this past weekend on mostly marked trails. Morning they were flat and super smooth and hard. Afternoon they turned to loose mogul filled mine fields. Played with ALL the suspension settings and never got the Slydog ski's to work. As a matter of fact they were HORRIBLE!!!!!! This is just my experience with them and I can honestly say that they are not staying on the sled they were that bad. Now the ski's are very nice and worked AWESOME on my buddies Fusion 600HO so my take is they are just not the right ski for the Nytro. I know a bunch of you have bought them already and I hate to post this but you will find that the sled is very nervous and unpredictable with these ski's on the sled. I would have never saw this coming since I thought the lesser aggresive keel would have worked great on the Nytro. I have Powderhounds with 6" carbides no studs and a 136 track.

I would give up the rest of the season if I had the ride it with these ski's. Next weekend I will be trying the stockers and a set of Simmons Gen I and I'll let you know what I find.

I'm not trying to put the Slydogs down I'm just saying that hold off if you can! Right now I was not very dissappointed in them on the Nytro but will be trying a few more things before I say NO GO.

Remember this is just my opinion that's all!

Sorry for the news but I'm affraid many were on the fence about ordering a set and I didn't want this review to go unsaid.

No it should have nothing to do with the 136 track. The problems and conditions I rode in are stated in my post above.

Well, I actually found the Slydogs worked very well ! Compared to stock there was MUCH less darting, and they floated over 4 feet of powder amazingly well, plus they steer WAY sharper than stock skis. I'm running stock suspension adjustments with Slydog's Race skis myself, 6 inch carbides and an Intense Powder track. My riding buddy who has a bone stock RTX was complaining that his sled was trying to buck him off on the packed trail last night, said it was darting all over the place, but mine was pretty good. I will say that after all the riding I've done in the past years, and from my experience, I have yet to try a set of skis that haven't darted somewhat, but these Slydogs are the best I've tried so far.

Have you touched the limiter straps on the rear skid?

Nope, haven't touched a thing, but I will be making adjustments to the rear to stiffen it up. You're on a standard FX Nytro correct ? I'd say the different rear suspension with your extension is making the difference.

My first experience with the slydogs is that there is absolutely no darting, but too much push in the corners.
btw i have skisavers on. Im going to try shimming in front of the spindle to see if i can get some more bite in the corners, or else i will have to change skis as well.

Slydog skis here on 2 sleds, much more predictable than stock and float much better as well. Setup with 1/8" of toe-in when measured at the front and rear carbide studs with Bergstrom ski savers.

Okay....

Here is the deal.

After riding this thing this past weekend all I wanted to do was sell it. All I've done is long track it, and put Slydog ski' on.

What could possibly be making this sled so unpredictable steering and heavy heavy steering? Allen you have the same set up as me so what have you done to your suspension set up on the NON RTX to make it not feel like it is a tank?? I could never take one hand off the handlebars EVER....
