What sled for me?

If you're riding groomed trails all the time, you'll never notice that the Apex is heavy...it's girth makes it feel very stable actually. Rides and handles like a sport bike in smooth conditions. Suspension and ski/carbide adjustments are mandatory with any make/model to make them rail like you want them to.

You will notice its weight if you ride beat up bumpy trails or like to ditch bang. Powder riding will tucker out the Hulkster in no time at all, as well.

Like others have said, the seating position on an Ape is in between old school and modern rider forward sleds.

Honestly if Yamaha did not exist I would look at an ETec with R motion. 600cc or 800cc both very good on gas and seem to be pretty reliable so far. Although, my buddy just had his in the dealer for a warranty piston ring change.... and the sleds are all different from one 800 to the next some are faster than others. I have had a few issues on my Apex but that's mostly from having the mileage it has and riding it hard. I have no steering issues and have solved any other issues with the parts everyone talks about on TY. Yamaheater, Shock work, stainless Ypipe and copper exhaust donuts. I love the Apex nothing compares to the power and sound. I ride pretty hard and have had no issues with handling but some with big bumps in beat up trails. That's where the Rmotion shines. I get sore hip flexors from the lower seating position on the Apex after a long days ride. The Rmotion is very stand up which eliminates that hip discomfort. Although the Etec rails hard into corners and ski lift is inevitable although I'm sure with proper adjustment could be solved. When I rode it took a lot of rider input to make it do what I wanted. Now I had an opportunity to ride a newer Apex 2011 XTX and the position is slightly better and I can see that solving the hip discomfort issue. EPS was really, really cool. That sled is faster than mine and is better in deep snow and still uses the same amount of fuel as mine did during the 3 days we rode together.
